I was just checkin' some news to post here when I found these two contradicting stories about the missing lake in Chile.

The first is brought to us by the lovely science department at Yahoo News. Their article reads "Global warming blamed for vanishing lake". The article goes on to say "Scientists on Tuesday blamed global warming for the disappearance of a glacial lake in remote southern Chile that faded away in just two months, leaving just a crater behind.

The disappearance of the lake in Bernardo O'Higgins National Park was discovered in late May by park rangers, who were stunned to find a 130-foot deep crater where a large lake had been.

After flying over the lake Monday scientists said they were able to draw preliminary conclusions that point to climate change as the leading culprit for the lake's disappearance."

Oh. So the climate changed that rapidly in just that area, and removed an entire lake. I see. Let's see what Reuters has to say about the same story. Their title reads "Scientists solve puzzle of Chile's missing lake"

"Scientists said that a lake in southern Chile that mysteriously disappeared last month developed a crack which allowed the water to drain away.

A buildup of water opened a crack in an ice wall along one side of the lake. Water flowed through the crack into a nearby fjord and from there into the sea, leaving behind a dry lake-bed littered with icebergs, scientists told Chilean state television on Tuesday."

I'm personally not one to tell you what to think, and the reuters article did go on at the very end to blame it all on global warming... I guess global warming caused the quake that caused the crack... mother earth is just so stressed out from non biodegradeable plastic. And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. Just remember, the planet is fine... the people are f****d.
