Okay this is what happened last night, my husband come home at 8pm he brings food, (since it's Summer by the way the kids new bedtime is 10pm). We eat he decides to get more stuff done in the garage, woodworking and what not, and my girls want to go out with him, we have a ncie attic filled with toys, so they are safe up there. I said i would be out later i had some stuff to do. So while everyone went out, inclduing my son, I closed the window in the livingroom, turned the light off in the basement and turned the and muted the tv off. I then went out in the garage. Twenty minutes later my husband asks me to go into the house and get his digital camera, i am like okay, I run upstairs and back, then 20 minutes later my kids are like can you open this toy so we can put batteries in it? I was like okay, i run into the house open the basement door, because you had to have a screw driver to open it, and the lights turned on, I ws like huh? i just turned them off, okay. I run downstairs grab the screw and run back up, it freaked me out a little back. We open up the toy thing and realize it takes double A battries. I go back into the house go into the living room and the window is wide open. I ask the kids, because they followed me, "did Dad come in and open the window?' They all said no. I asked my husband if he's been in the house, he said no. I was like okay. Finlly I came back into the house to put something back, I think the camera and I hear noises from the living room and realize the tv is on and full blast! I was like WTF!!!

So any reasonable explanations other then ghosts in my house? This isn't the first time something has happened here, I've had drawers open on there own, my refirgerator door has slammed shut many times, my cookbooks have been flipped through, while cooking, lightshave turned off and on, my tv has turned on. I've heard voices, even recorde them, it kind of freaked my husband out, eard what sounded like running in this house, like someone running around. Ive seen an apparation on our stairs few times, my son saw a man in his room, I have seen a man in my daughters room. that's about it. What happened last night was the most activity in one night, I asked my husband repeatedly did you open the window in here and he said no I didn't get off it. or whatever, I stopped after he glared at me.

just thought I would share!:noevl:

How long have you lived there? Do you know anything about the history of the place?

I lived in a house where occurances like that would take place, and we had a year lease, but although we paid the twelve months, only lived 11months. We just kept noticing more and more weird stuff, and it was like there wasn't really anything much happening the first month or so, but then it stepped up, and it would be things like a door opening AGAINST the lean of it, coming back to all the kitchen cupboards open, etc.

After a few months, my daughter got freaked out..she said she was in her bedroom asleep and woke up to someone at the foot of her bed, and screamed. I usually leave the hall door open, only for some reason it was shut, and it was only a weird feeling that made me go back and check on her, where she was screaming and sounded hoarse..she said the person disappeared, but she kept on screaming and was scared because I didn't come right away..I hadn't heard her! My son who was in the next bedroom was still sound asleep!

And the place that we would get creeped out the most and feel always like someone was watching us was the laundry room, which connected to the kitchen, and the back of it connected to my daughter's bedroom closet...we later found out that the previous owner of the house had had a heart attack and died in that laundry room.

We ended up eventually all sleeping together after a while in the large living room, and my daughter wouldn't even take showers unless I was actually in the bathroom with her after she left the bathroom door open and I was in the kitchen and I watched and she heard the bathroom door slam shut..and that is the one I was saying that has a lean so it stays open because of the way the house settled.

People moved into that house after us, and never would stay very long. Recently, I drove by and saw that it looked like they were gutting it to get whatever was of any value from the inside, so it looks like they are going to tear it down. The next door neighbor already grows vegetables not just in her backyard but the backyard of what was our backyard too (the fences got taken down), so I wonder if she bought it and might just make a large garden of the entire plot. Might be likely, as the landlord had a lot of problems trying to keep that place rented.

I think you might have ghosts..or could just have gremlins. Don't laugh, but there is a difference. Most all places have gremlins (they live on one sock from the dryer, lol), and they are like us humans "mostly harmless", but ghosts sometimes can be a bit more scary, particularly if they are territorial.

My advice? Either new age or traditional, find out what you can about what all is there and what they want, and if you can accomodate them, do so. I tried to do that in the house, and when I found out that the man who died was just mad that someone was living in 'his' house, and it wasn't just an imp or gremlin, we moved out soon afterwards.

There are more than a few known cases of pissing off a ghost so much even if they don't follow you, then they will put their imprint on your that will lead other dissatisfied ghosts to you. Or, now that you are more sensitive to presences, you could also just become more aware of imps/gremlins. But like I said, they are not all that harmful. Most of the time, burning some incense, lighting a few candles, and leaving out some goodies like candy or cookies or some other treat will satisfy them so they don't get too mischevious.

My friend had gremlins in her house, and she said she wasn't worried at all about them, because she lived in a not to good neighborhood, and her home was never broken into..she said they make good 'wards' too..

Yes, I believe in 'psychic bullshit' and all that..not sure if it is just the stuff I have seen, or if I was always predisposed to believe, but since I am sensitive, and battle fears daily, that is just one more of them..and compared to some of my fears, it's not really that much of one at all. I have seen living people do a lot more harm to others than ghosts, so maybe that's why I feel that way, and I have been visited by a few ghosts that were friends I miss as well, so to me, I see them as benign as well as harmful.

there is my :0.02:

This is like a second time ive heard about gremilins, im not saying i believe in something like them but we have had strange things happen in our house, ive seen little shadows dash in and out of rooms once in a while, ive also had objects being hidden from me, some i still havnt found. Ive also had cords being pulled out of sockets when no one is home.

I don't think anyone really knows for sure what they look like, but I do know that many cultures have different versions of them, and that is only Hollywoods. ;)

Sounds like a ghost. I ve dealed with ghosts good and bad. I dont know why but my parents' house is haunted. Just the basement actually. Where my room was. Lights used to flicker tv and stereo turn on by themselves. Sometimes i heard someone whispering my name specially if i had my music too loud I would turn it off then it would be silent. The more scary times were when i would be up late and my brother would start saying my name and yelling why are you in my room he would burst into my room scared then go back to his room. He always was like half asleep or something. The worst times was when It was complete darkness in the hallway one time i stepped out to go to the bathroom felt something touch me so i bolted for bathroom and locked the door behind me I saw the door nobs moves once or twice I think i spent two hours in that bathroom lol. That was the bad ghost cause it was always harassing me. I felt watched all the time and a uneasiness I sleep much better in a boarding house where people have commited suicide would you beleive. Another ghost i dealt with was completely different was in my friends house his grandma passed away there and still inhabits the house doors used to shut by themselves and lock themselves especially the bathroom. She turned lifes off and such. One time around 3 am I got up to go to the bathroom and got glimpse of a white bathroom disappear through a wall. It was her she apparently use to wear a bathrobe around in the mornings

my daughter the other day picked just now to tell me that one summer she spent with her grandfather that she saw the ghost of her grandmother and namesake..she was dreaming about her..then woke up and looked out the window and saw a lady with her finger over he lips like to say 'shh' and then the next day saw a picture of her in the same outfit in a photo album her grandfather showed her..

I asked if she was scared, and she said no, she knew her grandmother wouldn't harm her but just wanted to see her..

I woulda freaked out myself..but that's just me..and they are my 'ex-in-laws' dead or living, so that might reflect on how I feel about them a tad, lol!

I think my ghosts are attached to me. Since living here I'vfe had 3 relatives die on me and every time they visit me. I have seen my Grandmother, and my step-grandparents here in this house, and for one day things will go haywire. Plus, I usually dream of them only once.

The history of this house was it was built in 1975, the year my BIL was born, and that's it.Yet my SIL has seen things and so has my nephew. My friend has also sensed something here and refuses to come over, i didn't even tell her about the things going on.

Just recently the tv has turnd on again while outside doing yardwork, i turned the tv off, went outside for an hour and came back and it was on again! I don't know. i have dealt with this my whole life, so it kind of doesn't phase me anymore.

My children are cruel and they lie?! Now you're stepping on boundaries, how can my children lie to me when i see them outside? I go inside no one is in the house? How do you explain what happened the other day when my MIL took them to the beach for the day, and my husband was gone, I sitingin my dining room area and a pot on my kitchen stove moved, my dog went ape shit, and wouldn't stop barking in that area. The next thing you're going to tell me is that my dog moved the pot yet, he is a little bigger then a chihuahua!

Hahaha... back on topic... ;)

Stuff happens in my house, strange things, but nobody thinks that there are ghosts. Nothing on your level, at least not that I can recall, but I believe the members of my family to be mischievous and as such I would have no doubt as to them messing with each others' minds. I know that when I was a child I would do things along these lines to my parents to mess with them as a bit of fun. While it seems that in your situation this is not possible, don't rule out a child's imagination. When I was little I always wanted to see an apparition or something paranormal, and sometimes I made myself believe that I had. I loved the excitement of something that cannot be explained, and I recieved enjoyment from others sharing that feeling. So maybe I messed with some people's heads, but it was not out of cruelty, but rather it was simple mischief.

Speaking of messing with people's minds..my daughter collected porcelain dolls, and had six nice ones, but my cousin (mom's sisters son, about my age~!) decided to play a joke on her around halloween (this was not in the haunted house we lived in but the one after that.) the dolls were facing out, and he turned them around so they were facing the wall, and acted like he didn't know what had happened. He didn't tell me about it either. She turned them back around, and looked at me and then at him and just shrugged it off..until he did it again, and this time, moved them to different areas facing the wall. He didn't tell either of us he had been here, so we were a little freaked, and then he called me yucking it up about what he had done, and asked not to tell, so I didn't which was a huge mistake. She was really bugging about it..especially since we had just moved from a house that really was haunted. So I told her cousin Mike had done it, but she wouldn't believe me. We had the dolls moved into the living room because she didn't want them in her room anymore, and said they made her uncomfortable looking at her~!

And a little while after that we went to the 'five civilized nations' Indian Museum in Muskogee, and they have a few Katchina dolls, and one of the curators of the museum told how sometimes the Katchina dolls will be in different positions then where they were left in their glass cases, even though the cases will be locked, and how uncanny it is...after that my daughter said the dolls creeped her out so much that she put them in a box and never took them out again, lol!.....except..and here is the weird part...the Indian Doll, which she said she was okay with because she had been given that by her Great-great-aunt after she died.

It wasn't a 'Katchina doll' just an old porcelein doll, but Indian not white like the others..

I was resting in my bed one morning with my eyes closed. Without opening my eyes, I sensed some being enter the room. I thought it was my dog, come begging for a walk in the park. So I felt no alarm. There was pressure on the mattress. Again I thought it was he, about to give me a lick. So I remained open to his affection. Suddenly there was loud animal snort/growl right beside my ear. Every muscle and sinew suddenly went rigid. It felt as though I was being gripped from within by iron bands. For some unknown reason I remained calm. I thought that if I could move just one finger, I would triumph over whatever the force was that had entered my body. I struggled with all my might. The finger began to move. The iron grip then suddenly switched to my throat. I was being strangled from inside my body! Now I got frightened. Without any thought, I gasped out a phrase.

"I KNOW JESUS!" (Why I said that I do not know, since I did not know Jesus.)

No relief. The grip just got tighter. The room began to spin crazily. I was desperate. An idea flashed into my mind. A yogi friend had told me that he had once used a certain battle mantra to ward off a psychic attack. I remembered the mantra and managed to gasp it aloud.

"OM NAMO SHIVAYA!" -

Instant relief. It was as though nothing had happened.

A long-forgotten incident entered my mind. I had once shot a male baboon out of tree for no reason at all except target practice. He fell dead, face down on the ground, his arms outstrethed. When I came over to examine him, I was struck at how much the muscular structure of his back, shoulders and arms made him look like a dead human. I felt a twinge of remorse. That shameful old memory made me think it was his spirit that had come for revenge.

Several months later, I was busy on documentary television special that focused on the training of Shamans. I made a friend of one of them and invited him over to my house for a cup of tea. The Zulu shaman shivvered violently as soon as he crossed my thresh-hold.
"You have an angry spirit in your house."
"Who?"
"Baboon."

I had never told anybody about the psychic attack, or my shamful story of the baboon.

The shaman came back a week later with a gourd filled with a potion he had made. He used a wildebeeste tail as a switch, dipped it in the gourd and went around the house, from room to room, sprinkling the walls with the potion.

I never had another attack in that house.

That's a damn cool story, about the baboon.

I've always been interested in things like that, like how to ward off dangerous spirits and such. I actually have a tibetan buddhist prayer wheel in my basement, with a scroll inside reading "Om Mani Padme Hum", translation of which I forget. I think it's the basic mantra of buddhists though, nothing special like yours. There is a tale though of a Tibetan Buddhist "grand master" (don't know the proper term) yogi, many many centuries ago, who warded off a hostile invasion, simply by calling on a superior force of the mind and using it like a hammer to "crush" the minds of the armie's generals, killing them all at once. Very interesting, if true.

It possibly could have been paranormal activity, or your kids pranking ya and never wanted to admit. I wish I could think of more possible explanations but thats all I got.
