I have been looking for about a year for the solar shingles. They look so much like normal shingles and our house needs a new roof soon.
Searched the web, and I found several companies on the US coast areas but none where I am. The house has morning, afternoon, and evening sun and vaulted. Perfect for solar shingles.
But, I can wait for this company to produce some panels if that is what it takes. Not too far from me, heck I could drive to pick those up.
Good post Perf, thanks for letting us know.:bounce:

I looked several years ago at getting enough solar panels to be 100% off the grid, but the costs were so damn high. Now, this is a definite possibility. I would think this would be a definite option for new construction. With the energy costs going up every year, even as appliances and homes in general are getting more efficient, going solar for economical reasons and not just to be green is a smart move. Also, for people looking to go in this direction, you can take generous tax incentives by going with these.

It seems as though if you're in NO, we are on the same parallel (Houston); and yes I did research too, it looked like if I was to be completely grid-free, I wouldn't see a return on the solar investment for 10 years.
