Insult Section?

I think we should seriously add a insult section. Half the posts are people just inulsting each other so why not just make a section where people can freely insult other members. I think it would be fun. Its better then slowing the forum to a crawl since no one wants to moderate the insults. Because I think I've yet to read a topic where someone HASN'T gone off subject to slam another member.

And among those that are, so what, we're (most of us) adults and we can choose whether or not to engage in it, read it, or simply ignore.

Actually I think a 'flame war' forum area is a fantastic idea..a lot of places I frequent have it, and it allows the discussions on serious matters to continue, because if personal insults come in, the poster (s) will be told to take their personal beef with each other to that particular area, leaving the rest of us to discuss the topic at hand without going into different tangents.

I think that's sweet, but I agree that we're all adults here. In fact, if a thread gets out of hand, there's no possible way of forcing anyone to take it to the insult section...right?

Yeah, it sounds good on paper, but you know that won't happen.
Some little small minded troll will go about in every thread with an insult, designed to give the troll the false notion that he or she is important and is making some sort of statement that matters.

That's my take on it, anyway.

Yeah thats what I was getting at. It would make any personal debates in that section and keep them out of the forums. Thus making it more friendly to read to new comers. Right now when people read AO all they see is:

SPAM
SPAM
INSULTS
SPAM
SPAM
INSULTS
(occasional actual topic)
MORE SPAM
INSULTS
SPAM

It may not be that bad to some people but to someone new they are going to think this site sucks. At another forum, actually at a few they have seprate sections for people to talk it out or "fight" if they choose to be idiots.

Well I guess it wouldn't work here since no one enforces anything anyways. You'd have to tell people "take it to the flame section". With no real moderation I guess it wouldn't work here. Oh well.

I think it would be a good idea to just cut the insults from the original place and re post them in a special flame war thread. This way people can continue their argument without derailing the entire topic.

But that should only serve to manage the conflicts that happen anyway.
I am afraid a special section would only encourage curtain members.

I like Lycanox's cut and paste idea, but think that could potentially be too much work for the mods. So far, I really do like the forum just the way it is!
