Is this coming from the same Russian analysts who claimed that the US was going to launch a bombing raid on good friday last year? Or perhaps is this from the Russians who claimed that the US was gathering its forces near the Iraq/Iran border last May for an invasion of Iran?

This story is so far out there it has to be false.
"strategic nuclear bomber "...That kind of classification could easily be applied to ever single bomber plane in the US arsenal as nuclear weapons can be scaled down to fit on many sizes of bomber craft.

"Russian Military Commanders further speculate, in these reports, that the United States Defense Secretary, Robert Gates, and who last week ordered a full inventory of all American nuclear weapons, was ‘no doubt’ the US Military Commander who issued the ‘shoot down’ order for this B-1 nuclear bomber as he has been reported long at odds with the American Vice President, Richard Cheney, over the latter’s push for an immediate nuclear strike against Iran."

Seriously, if Gates were at such odds with Cheney, Bush would be handing Gates his walking papers. Its as simple as that. You don't order the shooting down of you own aircraft, against the orders of the vice president, and manage to just walk away as though it were a routine patrol.

I'm sorry USO, but I have to say that the news source you have provided simply doesn't sound credible. It sound more like a blogger attempting to put his own spin on events and pass it off as "news." Do you have any other sources for this information? I'd like to cross check this with something a little more reputable. Even Al Jazeera would be something...

no I don't, just thought it was interesting...the old man forwarded it to me, and I said the same thing...us shooting down our own plane?

also the fact that a nuclear strike order would have to come directly from POTUS.
