At my house in the counrty, a 56k dial-up.

There is a SLIGHT difference in speeds when I go between the two.

768 Kb down, 256 Kb up. Fast enough for me. I share an ADSL connection with my nextdoor neuighbour through a wireless gateway and network. Hardware by Linksys (WAG54G+WPC54G). Works like a charm.

It depends on how fast the server i'm downloading from can send. The fastest I've seen it do was 22mb in 20 seconds. That was bloody amazing. :D

Don't be that envious. Very few servers can upload fast enough for the uncapped to use full potential. Except maybe microsoft......

Yes, but you probably download WAYYY faster than me. Like when I use bittorent to download movies/anime/games, I can get 10mb/s off my moms office T3 line. I only get about 100~300kb/s off my regular connection. So you MUST download faster than me.

It's a good time to be getting broadband in Australia at the moment. A couple yrs back, it was only the big companies like Telstra & Optus that provided broadband and hence, very expensive prices.

But now almost all the other ISP companies have broadband now, so prices have been forced down and there is cheap, high speed internet everywhere!

T3 is soooooo expensive. I think the DSL is ok for now. Just flakey. Have to reset the modem several times a day. I have heard that cable is more reliable. I have several friends who use cable and like it alot. :D

I am using Qwest DSL and they are the ISP. I am looking at the bill it is:

DSL Internet Access: $17.95
Qwest DSL 640/272: $28.00
Taxes and Fees: $10.60
That comes to: $56.55 per month.


So basicly that is it. Looks like we are paying about the same. I think you get better service tho. I have to reset the modem usually 3 times a day!

I also have an Earthlink dial up account that runs $23.00 per month. That runs at 56K or slower.
