I have a friend who is from Pakistan, and hes the funnest most laid back guy around.

We are comfortable with who we are to the degree we can wind each other up, have fun laugh and joke about who we are. I call him a Camel Jockey, he calls me a white turd, he calls me a pale nigger i call him an sponging immigrant. People find out our near to the knuckle jesting a little uncomfortable and we tell them that we are friends and who cares what we look like i accept him and his people and he accepts mine.

I know VR, big guys who like to fight or look like they can tend to make people a little nervous...... You cant compare the things you described as racism to the racism described in the story. She was being persecuted for the color of her skin, you were being looked at funny...... People look at me funny sometimes too.

Of course being a minority draws some attention simply from being out of the ordinary.... You dont hate people in wheelchairs but you look because its rare. The subversive ways of communicating can be very deceiving.
