I'm going to go out on a limb and assume a few of you hear either know about The Walking Dead (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead), or you've read it. For those who have been living under a rock, The Walking Dead is an amazing Comic Book about this dude Rick Grimes. He's a cop who's stuck in the middle of this big-ass Zombie Outbreak. He meets up with a few other survivors and together they just try to survive. The book is great because it shows the stress that the people are going through as time progresses and the character are very well developed.
Anywho, here's some slightly old news:
Frank Darabont, director of The Shawshank Redemption has been given the go-ahead from AMC to adapt the astounding zombie comic The Walking Dead for television. Time to get excited, and prepare your anti-zombie shelter.
The Walking Dead is based on the comic series written by Robert Kirkman. It was previously announced that AMC was in talks to bring the undead back to life. It's now being reported in the trades that AMC has stopped talking, and is ready to bring Darabont's pilot adaptation to undead life. Plus he's going to sign on to direct.
AMC's Charlie Collier released this statement:
Working with people like Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd is the right way in for us to deliver a project of distinction in this genre.
Which we translate as, "We're taking this seriously. This is not another The Prisoner."
The comic book series is centered around Rick Grimes, a small-town police officer from Cynthiana, Kentucky. Grimes is comatose when the zombie outbreak started, so we're pretty much in the dark as to how this whole thing started, in the beginning. The books follows Grimes, his family, and a few other survivors they pick up along the way, as they try to find new, and safe, home. Of course, everyone slowly, or quickly starts losing their grip on reality.

Sounds pretty sweet, eh?
I haven't been so excited for a TV series in years. The only downside is that I tend to get my expectations get the best of things, especially when it's with something I know well. If they start changing shit for the show, or they make it into a cheesy Zombie-Flick style (ie Return of the Living Dead cheese), I'm going to be pissed off to no end. I may even go around beating the homeless with bats to let the Rage out.
But if they hold true to the comic books, and they take the Zombie Genre seriously (a la 28 Days Later or the remake of Dawn of the Dead) then I seriously think we're in for a treat.
Anyhow, I think I'm just babbling at this point. Have a few more pics to get your mouths watering for some bitchin Zombie action.
