>> http://biblia.com/apparitions/virgin-zeitun-16gg.jpg << looks more like a painting than a photograph...

I believe in God, don't get me wrong. But I do not believe in most apparitions. I am sorry, but I do not believe the majority of kids. Kids make stuff up, fantasize. Like the kids who claimed to see fairies and photograph it back in like 1920, and then admitted upon their death beds it was a hoax.

Lenin has been dead for the best part of a hundred years and his body still shows no signs of decomposition. Does that make Lenin into a saint?

Just for the heck of it, I clicked all of your links. I did not find a single shred of evidence here that would make me think the virgin Mary had anything to do with it.

Just out of curiosity? Why is it that people have this urge to "prove" the existence of God, or Mary or Jesus through the "evidence" of so-called "Miracles" and "Apparitions"? Either you believe in them, or you don't; why waste time and energy on these (IMO somewhat naive) notions?

BTW why would Mary chose to appear to devote christians in remote places? She would do a far better job convincing people of the truth of the gospel by appearing in a shopping mall at 3 PM on a saturday afternoon. Now it is always the believers trying to convince the non-believers.

Of course not. People see what they WANT to see. Decomposition (as you know) depends upon the environment, (arid environ. as oppossed to humid)whether or not the specimen had been treated with preservatives, bacterielogical processes. . .yah know. . .

Because people need so badly to believe that they are not wasting their time. They need to believe in something so badly, that it is sometimes necessary for them to drag the whole of the crowd with them.

As for me? I am an Agnostic. I believe that there is a God, I am just not certain what form this entity takes. I do not have the need that everyone should believe as I do. That doesn't matter to me. I don't feel the need too preach on it either (ha-ha) so I'll get off the damn soap-box now anyway. . . HAhaheeeee. . . .

Why? Because, my dear Dutch friend, it would make too damn much sense that she should, is WHY it'll never happen. . . :D

Joe, Unknowingly, you put in words the most profound statement to be found within Christian logic. :rolling:

Matt and me had worked-out a "new religion" a while back, we just got busy with other things-n-stuff. Open to everyone!

Think we even discussed the first saints we would cannonize; (correct me if I'm wrong, Matt)

1. Monty Python
2. Marty Feldman
3. Redd Foxx
4. Johnny Carson
5. ? Benny Hill (long debate about this last one!)

- - We got into an arguement about the choir; He wants "Slayer", I want "Pearl Jam". . . .

Now accepting applications for alter-girls (yes, as in female) must be 18 to apply. 'cause it's the law, that's why. . . :D

We'll let you know when we set the cornerstone, stewey. . .

Monty Python is in fact a collective of saints: John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and the animation artist and director Terry Gilliam.

Another two saints worth mentioning: Tommy Cooper and Rowan Atkinson. Might I suggest Peter Gabriel as the lead singer (his name has already a religious ring to it)??

I say we make 'em all saints, anywho! :rolling:

Like, who could forget: *I'm-a Lumber-jack *and I'm O-kay,/I work*-all-night and* I-sleep *all Day! :grin

Well what do you know? If it isn't a pair of mods beginning to drift off topic. You should know that God takes the best to be with him, after all he's got Jimi Hendrix and Keith Moon in his band, Marlon Brando to star in his new play and John Belushi playing court jester.

You know as I don't believe in God, this is a strange point to be making.

You're right. Off topic it sure is. But hey, what fun to be contemplating about stuff like this!!!

- - -My bad as well, guess it was just my attempt to add levity to the topic.
Okay/back to topic. A good question to ask while we are ON the topic is "What is it that makes these people BELIEVE they have seen the 'Virgin Mary' apparition?" (and) "Is it the times we live in, [trying as they are with the world situation and all] that cause this?"

- - -I wonder.

as you can tell all these are catholic........ you should convert to catholicism IT will save your soul!!! I LEFT catholicism/christianity and it saved my soul from the tormentive guilt, the need to measure up, the reality I would never measure up and the constant thinking that I was doing it all to aspire to a false "perfection".

You should convert to personal beliefs rather than organized religion!! It will save YOUR soul and spare people like me who dont have to be "saved".

Just to be "nice", there are hundreds around Ohio. In fact, I dont really think there is anywhere in Ohio you can drive (other than the turnpike) that you wont see a sign for one. Just like Mickey D's.
