Our nation has gone to red alert status. A terrorist attack will be carried out today, as was announced in a letter to NATO this week. Most likely the attack is against a "soft" target, which translated from terrorlingo means a place where a LOT of people gather, such as a large trainstation (Amsterdam central) or a busy government building.
Most of our people shrug their shoulders and move on. I can not deny some feelings of anxiety myself...
Let's hope it will pass our door...

I have not heard anything on the news tonight Dutchie, hope thats a good sign. I vaugely remember some terrorists hijacking a train with many dutch citezens on it, the terrorists were...........south mollecians or some thing like that, please forgive this ignorant yank...anyway the government of the Netherlends actually negotiated with the terrorists for it's citezens lives. I was impressed by that, the US gov. won't negotiate with terrorists. Lets hope your countries main enemy continues to be the sea and your main battles are reclaiming land from the sea. :respect:

Well, thank God nothing happened, although we are still on high alert status..
The terrorist attack on a train in Wijster was in the seventies. It was by South Moluk independence groups.

Dutchie, the one thing you might have in your favor is that if some angry individual comes to your nation, maybe they could be offered a doobie, calm down and realize that things are only as bad as they were brainwashed to think. :D

Hahaha!!! So you think Holland is one big Woodstock terrain?!? Wished that were true... No, actually were not used to stuff like this, so it's hard to get people to be aware of threats. Most us shrug shoulders and go about their business...

I was in Best Buy the other day looking at DVD's and heard a melody I had never heard before, but for some reason sounded familiar. I went over to a home theater set up they had and their was a concert playing. It was a cool round stage set up and Red Rain was playing. :grin

Yes. Osama himself named the Netherlands specifically in a videotaped message as a strike target. Kind of unnerving.. :dead:

In the New York city area every day we are on high alert....to you this may be weird but to us its a normal part of life now. But honestly i believe we are safer on high alert. I wish the whole country was on high alert all the time. Was it high alert when sept. 11th happened?? no. Has it been high alert in america while there have been no terrorist attacks? Yes. Al Queda is smart...they wont be idiots and do an attack when the area they are attacking isnt on high aleret....like los angeles. :Llol:

They won't have to attack LA. The faultline will do their dirty work for them.

That really makes no sense....which idiot decides to put San Fran, LA, Oakland, Seattle, San Diego, San Jose and Sacremento on the ring of fire. Its retarted...only Arnold can make things worse.

No we should NOT live in a high state of alert all the time, especially when one isnt warranted. Doing that would desensitize everyone and when it really mattered, a very small number of people would even believe it. Plus, weve had enough lies. I dont want to live in a constant state of paranoia.
Im glad it was a hoax Dutchie because your country is not the gamemaster at this time. I do however believe that those who cooked up that hoax should be punished, severely. :crs:

New York does....and it wouldnt be a constant paranoia...it is safer when we are in a high alert Dn. :nudge: People are more aware...airports and borders are much more careful...maybe they should add another level between elevated and high..i dont know but have you ever seen a terrorist attack when we were in a high alert.

What you are implying is that alert status protects people. On the surface it does, however, people should be more aware regardless of what status we are in. That is what we pay people for, our national security and it is everyone's duty to be responsible for national security to a certain extent.
I will not allow terrorist activity to control my life and how I go about it. If I feel I should go about my life in a constant state of fear then the enemy has won. I will not allow myself to be a TOOL of the enemy.

We wouldnt be in a constant state of fear..it would just mean that our security would go higher...but it should always be higher our security...and they only do that on high alert..on elevated they dont care and we get attacked...on high we dont...
Example: New York CIty...been high all the time. No attacks.
