Batman 3 to be titled The Dark Knight Rises, will NOT feature the Riddler

The Riddler rumors hit a peak earlier this month when it was announced that Tom Hardy had been cast in “a lead role”. To be clear, it is not certain who Hardy will play, or if he is even playing a villain, but to the denizens of the intertubes it all seemed to fit together nicely. So back to the drawing board on whom Hardy will play. Some of the filming is set to occur in New Orleans, leading to further speculation that Hardy might play a more realistic version of Killer Croc.



Wow, Killer Croc? How would they pull that off? First movie was ok, second one was MIND BLOWING, but the third? Hmmm, and a female lead? Catwoman? Harley Quinn? I'd love to see Quinn! Too bed no Joker(Depp took over for certain scenes after Heath died) or Riddler. Hmm, Black Mask maybe? And if he is only doing three movies wow. Or would he change his mind after making another billion dollars?

nah. That was The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus where several actors took parts. Dark Knight was finished filming when Leger died and there were no re-shoot done . it has reached an almost urban legend status though because of the fans choice on who could replace Ledger if they wanted Joker in the 3rd installment.

Well, who do you think? Killer Croc seems silly for such a reality based series. Unless they bring Raas back and he is messing with DNA? Then you could have Croc and Clay Face. But that would take a lot of CGI. Bane maybe? If Riddler is out you can't use some weird cartoonish guy like Penguin. And do some one new! I know they couldn't avoid using Joker but the Scarecrow was new in the first one so a new villain in the third one? And as for the female lead, Quinn! CW and PI have been done already and again based in reality so they can't be used.

I hope if they do this one right they do a 4th. And let Nolan keep doing it as he wants. Gah, we lost Spiderman 4 because they told Sam he couldn't use Toomes(Vulture) or Kraven(Man Hunter) and he said fine, I quit.

Actually Penguin, although rumors say Nolan hates the Penguin character, could be made very bad ass with the new dark feel. Ledger's joker wasn't scary because he was slick and funny like Nicholson, he was a psychopath. Just like IRL when some dumb thick idiot tries to start a fight. He's not scary. But the guy with that odd look in his eye, who looks right through you with one hand always in his pocket. He is scary. A character bent on violence with no boundaries or moral limits.

With New Orleans what about Solomon Grundy?

Reading stuff/comments if they made the Penguin a slick gangster, but that could be covered by Black Mask. I'd rather see Bane, and have some one like Brock Lesnar play him. I saw Penguin in that uh, Batman Returns? Bleh. Same with Catwoman. Unless they do a remake and just do the whole jewelthief but she isn't a villain she's an anti hero.

They ought to can the whole idea. You can't top the Dark Knight, and you certainly can't top a villain like Ledger's joker. Might as well go back to bank robberies for the sake of money like the 1950s Batman.

Because Ledger's Joker had NO such motivation. That made him far more interesting, and certainly more chaotic. In fact, death, entropy, all these things are manifestations of the opposite of ORDER, the UNDOING of order, and in my mind that makes it the fundamental BASIS of evil.

Evil is BASED upon undoing order, as I see it. Or at least the most basic level of evil would be chaos.


This nihilistic question won't be dealt with again without more or less duplicating the character.



I guess what I'm getting at is even if there was another in the series that were as entertaining, it very likely will not have the same sort of philosophical meat attached to it.

See that won't work. Ledger has set a bar, so has Bale. No one will top Joker, I agree with cart, but a new level of low for villains has been set.

Well she has been reported to be in it regardless. Maybe just to introduce Selina for a possible 4th, but who knows. Despite the BM Returns Catwoman has never been a strong enough character to lead villain a film. Ras would be an interesting choice and I think there was a storyline in one of the c-books where he came back as a younger version of himself.

I did read somewhere that Arnold Wesker may be in the running, nor the Ventriloquist would be a good fanboy draw. A lot of people are freaked out by Ventriloquiest dummies, like clowns.

Who cares if it can't top Dark Knight... Nolan will still be at the helm, and it will likely still be better than most of the shallow action/adventure shit out today. Yeah, I'm looking forward to consuming an antidote to the Iron Man 2's out there. I don't care which villain they choose, because no matter what, he/she will probably be very well-written and creatively done.

There aren't many epic villains left, in my opinion. But then, Nolan can reinvent them like he did with Scare Crow and Rā's al Ghūl and make them interesting.

I don't think Bane would be a good Villain for the new flick. He's too big of a story arc to cram into 2 hours. It'll end up being that shit-fest Spider-Man movie with Venom.
