For future reference, April 1 is probably not the best date to unveil this kind of project to the world. But I've been personally assured by University of Central Arkansas assistant sports information director Josh Goff that the plan to install purple-and-gray artificial turf at 8,000-seat Estes Stadium is very real, so … Conway, Ark., get ready to get your freak on:

I wanna see Army/Navy/Air Force get in on this! Or the NFL! Imagine the Cinnci Bengals playing on a tiger stripped field? Or the Pats on an American Flag field? The Eagles and Packers... Don't really change but like the Vikings on a Purple Field? The San Fran 49ers on a rainbow field?(I know, ha ha bad joke)

But of course people in the comments bitching about how it isn't "purist" football. It isn't like how football should be back in the good ol days. Cause you know, the NFL started out with 2 leagues, 32 teams, facemasks, helmets, knee pads, roughing the passer rules, instant replay, 6 point TDs, and... Oh, they didn't? Hell the QB couldn't even pass unless he was at least 5yds behind the line of Scrimmage until like the 40s? And there is no Chicago Cardinals? Oh no! What about the Baltimore Colts oh please tell me we still have the Baltimore Colts and the all Native American team the Oorang Indians! And I love rooting for the Pottsville Maroons against those evil Dayton Triangles!(No idea where either of those cities are) Yep, good ol days football, purist football baby!

I did not follow me here just to say that.

And Arkansas does have more inbreds than mississippi and louisiana combined.

It is a backward state. You would have to spend time there to know that which obviously you haven't BB.

Good for you. you've spent allot of time in a state with many inbreds. Just like how you live in a backwards state.

Why the fuck is a Texan critiquing Arkansas?

You're just a troll.

I was just pointing out you were displaying characteristics of a hypocrite, relax. It's not a big deal.

It was you that flipped out and made wild assumptions about my life and my employment.

Huh, good point. A Texan making fun of another state? Really? The state that rewrote the history books so the Founding Fathers and Rosa Parks and MLK are out and KKK founder Forrest is a huge hero as is McCarthy? And that America won the European part of WWII and not Russia, who won it. And claims FDR caused the Great Depression, even though he wasn't president yet...

I am not really a fan of these colorful fields. It makes following the game harder for me. Players seem to blend into the field. I an not really a fan of fake turf either. I think the pro's should be able to do whatever they want to their fields while college and HS should stay green.

Man... I followed the links and saw central washington's field.... looks like the Mississippi mud I used to play in as a kid. The field changes, while saving some money up front... will likely lead to career ending injuries... not sure why the change to artificial turf to save $100,000 per year... not enough money savings to risk the added sports injuries... which will cost the schools even more money in the long haul.
