:Bday: Latest hot off the press news from NASA reveals that two new moons have been discovered around Saturn. The Cassini spacecraft discovered them between the orbits of the moons Mimas and Enceladus. One moon is estimated to be 3km across while the other about 4km across. This takes the number of moons orbiting Saturn to 33.

My thoughts are why are they called moons when they are so small? Should'nt they be called asteroids? What do you think?

My thoughts are why are they called moons when they are so small? Should'nt they be called asteroids? What do you think? According to Webster, there's really no difference. An asteroid can range in size from under a Km to over a Thousand Kms. They both orbit around larger celestial bodies so I don't know.

Shouldn't they just call them satellites? :nerdo:

Space debris would be a better description... They're not going to give those pebbles actual names, are they?
