It was found 2002,here it is on these websites:

http://www.solstation.com/x-objects/s2.htm

Also,as you know this year giant black hole ripped star apart:

If this cannot persuate you that black holes exist I don't know what it can.

Interesting...
I do believe in black holes, i just dont believe all of the theories about them.

We can only assume what's beyond the event horizon of a black hole, but can never truly test any theories. That is an unfortunate aspect of the theory behind black holes. We can only really observe black holes indirectly.

Lazserus,my point was that this star S2 was at its nearest distance of of 17 light hours from the Milky Way's centre. This star S2 after have being in only 17 light hours(almost 124 astronomical units),has accelerated in excess of 5000 km/s,this irrefutable proof that there is indeed an dark and very, very massive object right there at the centre of Milky Way galaxy.
I truly don't know how this doesn't prove to you that there is a black hole just right at the centre of Milky Way galaxy.
Any thoughts?

You don't need to prove to me black holes exist. I'm a very stout supported of the theory of black holes. Just read the article on our site that dutchie and I published together. You'll never hear me refute astrophysical theories unless they're plain stupid. Such as the gravistar theory.

It turns out that there is a little more than just a black hole that is happening in the center of the Milky Way...

Sorry for the lack of further information. They really dont know too much about our galaxy yet. Too Big :bearhug:

Yes,but they do know there is a giant black hole there, kust right at the very centre of the Milky Way galaxy.

I don't mean to sound like an ass, but that article was just plain stupid. "Hi, we're the H.E.S.S. team and we're lame. We've been way behind in the game up until just now where we've pin-pointed a source of gamma rays at the galactic center. We know exactly where it is, but have know idea what it is. We figured it would be a good idea to concoct theories that contradicted observable evidence found by the Americans, Australians, and the Japanese. Please shoot us in the face."

Maybe it's a hypernova. They produce large quantaties of gamma rays. Hell, it could be a star falling into the black hole at the center. That ALSO would cause large quantaties of gamma rays.

you dont sound like an ass. i kinda felt the same way when i read it. I just thought, maybe you guys could come up with other ideas like you did lazserus, about what else could be up out there.

Well, I can understand Laz' reaction, because your post started with the words "it turns out", meaning you agreed with the article, and accepted it as factual evidence, Zach.
