Well, I gotta go, so I will keep this short.
It seems that the leaders of this fine nation have declared that all Western Oil Companies must pull out today, despite their contracts...or face "all out war". A buddy of mine just got on a plane, heading to Nigeria as part of a team that does covert electronic surveillance. This little scenario has been in the think tanks for awhile, but it was never considered that we would have so many troops elsewhere that I ever heard about. I always assumed it would be very quickly put down, using overwhelming force, thats BEEN the plan; and the option of not putting the rebellion down was never on the table in the scenarios...
its gonna get interesting....

I read about Nigeria in the papers too. Well, another chance for Bush to show the world America won't have it when some stupid little country decides America no longer gets oil. STAMPEDE!!! :btchn:

Nah, I think we will "Kick Iran's Ass and take their Gas(hydrocarbons)". Then Nigeria, or we could get the draft reinstituded and fight Iran-Saudi-Nigeria-Syria.

Nigeria has been exporting quite a bit to us Americans, Im sure were not just gonna let em kick us around. Its gonna be interesting on how fast or if Bush moves... Lotrfan, do you have any stats on Nigerian oil handy being the peak oil preacher and all?? British Petroleum is involved also, but Beavis and Butthead have been friends for awhile....did I say that??? I meant Bush and Blair.
This scanario has been hashed out in the think tanks for years. Im not current, but just a few years ago the recommendation was always to destroy the rebellion fast and hard. Im not sure if the tanks have been playing much with Nigeria lately, this country seems to have had bigger things on its mind; not sure what the current view is...Ive sent out a few emails to people who might be in the know...

That is funny, it hasn't been on national news in the USA....

Wonder what's the significance in that...

A truce is agreed in Nigeria, just long enough to surround and wipe out this motely crew. With any luck, every oil line in the vicinity is mined and ready to blow incase of double cross. :burnin:

To me it seems as if this socalled rebel leader is just a common oil thief. We all now how nervous investors get these days, so crude oil will fall below the $50 mark quite soon again, I think.

On the other hand, I could be dead wrong. :Bdevil:

Well, Im not sure but it looks like when the western countries went in and developed the oilfields the Nigerians were very pleased with the per barrel price they were getting and took the money happily, and of course the companies were smart enough to lock in the price. Now with oil around $50 per barrel they feel ripped off....but they signed the contracts.....
I have watched ABC, NBC, and FOX national news since my last post here and nothing....everything is the about all the fine points of arranging and possible outcomes of todays presidential debate. Gonna be interesting....

I saw the "debate" (very very civilized, wasn't it?!?) and I must admit I thought Kerry was the winner. As I gathered most Americans agree with me, even the conservative networds such as Fox.
