God & Ice Cream

Thank God for Children Saying Grace...

Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked
if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all!

Amen!"

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby I heard a woman
remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even
know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me,

"Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?"

As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was
certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He
winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a
great prayer. "Really?" my son asked.

"Cross my heart," the man replied.

Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark
had started this whole thing), " Too bad she never asks God for ice
cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son
stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and without a word, walked over and placed
it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for
you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good
already."

The End

Sometimes we all need some ice cream. I hope God sends you some ice cream today!

He who leads is not left nor right, but above.
Lori

Last week I had baklava and greek coffee. They're great for the soul too, but they tasted like salt water compared to the total sweetness of your story.. This sounds like the sort of story you could hear any TV reverend dreaming up. Come on Lori, it's just too sweet to believe.. :eww: Sorry to burst your bubble.

I loved it! :prty:
As with life, we all need a story or two to help us feel good, that we are traveling in the right direction. Thank you! :toast:

Well, I for one believe that LC is free to believe in whatever story she chooses--regardless of the logic to it.

Don't let us blowhards frighten you from believing in what you want, LC. Yea AMERICA!

PS. Dutchie, often children are often smarter then adults. My son comes up with Words of WIsdom that often blows my mind away. :burger:

uhhmm, ...ok, thanks. You're married, remember?

While I may not agree with what you say or think LC, I will die to defend your right to say/think what you want...as any true AMERICAn would do.

Not being a true american, I'm happy to stand by and watch as Micky dies trying to defend your right to believe as you wish.

I'm inclined to agree with Dutchie, it's one of those too perfect and innocent to be true stories. Not mention I doubt processed pig fat and sugar is somehow good for a supposed non-physical part of your body... :devsmoke:

You're too young for Erectile Dysfunction and you're too old for bed wetting...what gives matey?

Bad day at work... :bird:

2 weeks into the job and I'm left to run the whole bloody department for the day....

That and my usual cynical outlook upon religion... :Bdevil:

Will,

You've got to learn to let loose and splurge a little. Life is too short. There is nothing wrong with a genuine Hot Peanut Butter/Fudge Treat complete with oozing pure Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, whipped topping, cookie and mixed nuts, once in while. It is good for the soul.

Oh this can be Heaven.

Oh but I disagree. The average lifespan is around the 70 year mark. That is not a short period of time.

As for the ice-cream, it's definitely good for the taste buds, I don't know about anything else thoughl :wine:
