BANDON, Ore. (AP) — The National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo., says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 off the Oregon coast caused no reported damage and only a smattering of reports from people who felt it as a weak jolt.
The shallow quake was recorded at 7:31 p.m. PST Tuesday more than 150 miles west of southern Oregon. It did not generate a tsunami.
Nu Kua are you ok?!?!?!? They say no damage but have there been aftershocks?

That's pretty big for that area I believe. Usually they're in the <5 range and you don't really feel them on land. I know when I was out there visiting my cousins once there was a 5.5 or 5.6 off the coast where we were staying. Didn't feel a thing when it happened and heard about it on the news later.
Nu is probably just fine. She's tough and fierce independent woman. I'm sure everything is ok.

It's not unusual for this area, at all. Look at your historical seismicity. (http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/eq_depot/2012/eq_120215_b00080ib/neic_b00080ib_h.html)
What is interesting is that it was preceded by a bump on the southeast side of the Pacific Rim, and not far from where I've been pointing to as a preindicator for movement on the East to Northeast side. I'll elaborate more on this in the earthquake 2012 thread. (http://forums.armageddononline.org/threads/33727-Earthquakes-2012)

I heard from Nu. They did feel it. Everyone is ok. No big deal.
As for RW... those are all little quakes. I'm talking about 6 pointers are rare up there.

Did you bother to click on the map? It's not rare, and the most honorable gentleman is incorrect.

I see mostly 5's and under with a few 6's.
