O say can you see, the U. S. Oligarchy?

The U S is on sale. Buy it while it’s hot.

O say can you see,
by the dawn's early light,
what so proudly we hailed
we now proudly renounce.
democracy

Plato theorized that democracies, as they matured, evolved into oligarchies or plutocracies. We are witnessing exactly that.

When the new political election funding laws came into effect, the U. S. democratic system became an oligarchy or plutocracy. Billionaires are now buying political candidates and are in fact buying the leadership of the nation. They are now the power behind the throne and control the government and thus the people. Now, instead of working 9 to 5, Americans are working 24/7.

When did the U. S. devolve from the leading democracy of the West, to a tyranny up for sale?

Oh say can you see,
by the dawn's early light,
that lawful abridgement of our citizen rights.
What so sadly we fail the resolve to
lend to the fight. O'er the ramparts we watch
are so gallantly gleaming, from the powers great stare,
as autonomy bursts into thin air, gives truth to the plight that
our freedom is flayed bare.
Ohhhh, say how does that star spangled banner now wave
at 180 degree's, O'er the land of the Fed and the home of
the slave.

Yes, I've noticed the evolution of our country into a plutocracy behind the seats of this democratically elected republic. I've hobnobbed with the rich and the powerful who are there. Writing the laws, enforcing the authority those then convey. Observed sparkling white teeth gleam in contest with glassy eyes, that say from behind them; I am untouchable.
And even their bare skin smells of money, while the feel of it, before they ever arrive on my massage table, is like unto a reptile. And thick as that which is naturally occurring on a Komodo dragon. While always, when I later see them on TV, one eye appears larger in circumference than the other. As if someone installed a hidden camera behind it, like unto the ear bud that sits afixed in Obama's ear when he's at the podium. So that his handlers can whisper to him his next word, in the event the monitor he reads fails him, or in the event he needs to self-edit it's scrolling script.
Only with those person's I mentioned with the eye, it reminds me of those nanny cam's, secreted in teddy bears and such, that secretly observe baby for their own personal security.

And while we the people are made subjects to the Federal government, and still outnumber them with that 99%, our apathy puts us in deficit. Because we by majority are apt to bitch, after we cast our vote and elect for a cause to. While committing to effect real change isn't in us.

We've become a nation of consumers. And that which we consume has in turn consumed us. We are now, after having been made, a debtor society. We give ourselves credit what we crave is worth owing for. And in the process, as was planned behind that curtain behind the seats in those many halls of power, we have come to be a representative them that are a mockery, of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Because corporate media, privileged by the FCC to own and operate, proves we only know what we're permitted to be told on a grand scale so that we are led to believe it's all true. And if not, true enough. Otherwise, mass communication, one of the first targets when any military invades any country, because communication stands to achieve solidarity and revolt, that what is not permitted is considered pirate.

And that causes some to wonder, how can that be so when free speech is suppose to be free? And not then occur with placement of a Federal fee! Check that phone bill next time.
Free speech?

As a consequence of our being led as a people, by those we trust to be empowered to do so from either side of the aisle, is afforded because we are persuaded status as a follower is good, legal and PC, because those who seek to curry our favorable willingness to snuggle toward their backside, pander to that other majority.

That community of person's who deem it a boon to be called; sheep! When that fabled shepherd did admonish, as did his father, that slaves should be obedient unto their masters.
And if well behaved shall be redeemed of their condition, by the good news that they shall then be better people with more assets once they're dead.
Somehow, that old adage about wolves in sheeps clothing in those same scriptures that encourage the flock to expand it's numbers by converting more members to the fold, is forgotten.

I like wolves. They have sharp teeth, live in packs, are intelligent, independent, selective in their breeding (the ultimate role model of pro-choice), defend hunting ground, sing in tune and will rip the throat out of any interloper who dares take what's theirs! By majority, no curtain necessary so as to hide the election to do so! Materialism be damned, what they see is theirs because they fight to keep it, not because they buy it so that it's expendible and stamped with; made in China which helped make America's economy anorexic.

And while partisan loyalty to the masters who ride asses or elephants spreads from sea to shining sea, obviously that old wisdom that a people/nation divided against itself can not stand, *is either forgotten or dismissed as either a Republican or Democratic smear against the opposing party, we arrive now at where we are because we are too afraid to risk what we have so as to fight for what we want to change.

I don't think that's entirely true.

I live as an optimist. I advise you to consider doing so as well. This way I/we both, stand to have hope through our own elected effort in creating the change we want to see in America. ;)

Corrupt Politicians and their allies. Can't live with 'em, can't melt them with Martin the Martians ray gun.

That is just soooo wrong!::)):

What's even more so is, if I said something more serious/threatening, of course in jest, but taken seriously could be by whomever it may be at the time, in those offices that monitor the net, I would be in short supply of optimism that I'd enjoy finding out government officials have no sense of humor at all.

Doesn't that National Defense Authorization Act just make you feel all warm and nationally secure inside....a detention facility wherein you can be indefinitely detained because the 4th amendment is just a suggestion now?!

Yeah, me too.

Yeah, me too.

It is shit like that that has nurtured my cynocisim. TO make me say we are fucked as a nation..... It is not the people that are demanding strife and conflict as much as it is the US government itself. The American Federal Empire.

Indeed. I understand your point.
It's why they orchestrate the chaos on all levels.

Then sweep in with legislation that corals us into neat little packages hermetically sealed for our protection, so that we think we're free because we can still breathe without paying an nasal air passage permit fee.

And while there are those who would argue; sure, but until you live in another country and experience that nations government in practice, you won't realize that while it's pretty bad here, it's still the best nation to insure personal freedom, on earth and it's all we've got right now.

That may be true. However, to complacently set back and accept it's the best we can do, is a dereliction of duty to making it better than it presently is.

Freely exampling Godwin's Law...

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” Hermann Wilhelm Göring - Hitler's Reich Marshal, to a private court appointed psychiatrist during the Nuremberg Trials.

Thomas Jefferson: “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.”

Name a year when we weren't going to Hanover in a hell-basket. 1804, 1757, 1906, 1685, etc. Everything blows-over...

America is a caravan on the Silk Road. We're gonna get there. -As a caravan. Because we're alive, now... as 'they' were alive, 'then'... every generation toils under the illusion that the current confederation of dunces are the ones who're gonna screw-it-all-up.

What could I possibly add.

You have expressed the apathy of the majority to a tee.

My kingdom for an alarm clock to wake them from it.

DL Have you ever seen the movie/DVD by John Carpenter entitled: "They Live" ?

It stars the professional wrestler Roddy Piper, who I think is in his first role with that film. However, when asked Carpenter said the movie represented the then present day Reagan Administration and it's influence over the American people.

I tend to think it the running theme, which you'll see after the sunglasses go on, represents every administration and their allies motives and conduct, ("I've got one that can see") in perpetuity.

If you haven't yet watched it, I highly recommend.

I own a copy. If you don't want to make the purchase first, consider that your local public library may have a copy or if not perhaps they participate in the Inter-Library Loan program, wherein they can request materials a patron seeks to borrow from those participating libraries who loan certain of their collections to libraries and their patrons around the country.

It's definitely worth the effort. Especially prior to November elections.

Well, there was already a Dean Koontz novel which preceded both. -Plus, the UK was already showcasing Max Headroom, about an ad-agency inserting 'blip-verts' in television-programs which caused viewer-traumas.

The 80's-ish urban legend was that large stores were hiding subliminal 'buy'-messages inside their piped-in music...
