Just 3 popes to go before the aliens arrive? No I hadn't heard of this. We'll leave this in Religion if you like to see how it goes but guess it could end up in Paranormal (or even Entertainment perhaps) :D

Actually there is some truth in the initial topic of the thread (As far as predictions go). This is supposed to be the 2nd to the last Pope. If you're prone to believe in these things.

Okay okay, I've looked into a couple of these sites and find them to be inaccurate in several accounts.
The first link you posted claimed that there was a eclipse visible in north america on the day of the popes funeral, did anybody else see this or did was i the only one who didn't notice an eclipse hapening outside?
The theory is an interesting one but I fail to see how the election of a pope, which is not part of bibilical code, and hence is not the word of the god you believe in, a election which is performed by people out of tradition is going to decide the end of the world. Come on, you guys can think of better ways to predict armageddon then that.

The Benedictine order traditionally said this Pope would come from their order.

Yes, there was an eclipse visible in North America on the day of the popes funeral, although it was only a partial solar eclipse with about 10% coverage where I am. It was hard for me to see it without my binoculars with a eclipse viewer stuck to the end of them, so I doubt many people would have noticed it. Some places in the Pacific did see a total eclipse though.

Aye there was an eclipse that day, as well as one on the day of his birth if I remember correctly.
You said you "find them to be inaccurate in several accounts." What else did you see that was inaccurate?? I'm not saying that I think everyone should believe this to be true. In fact, was hoping someone would point out how it couldn't possibly be true. Seems more fun to find the fault in it, then to believe it to be true. But still it interests me....so I posted. :smokin:

according to Malachy, Pope Benedict XVI is listed as the
last pope. After listing the 267th, Pope Benedict XVI, as, 'Gloriae Olivae,'
or Glory of the Olives - there is no number 268 offered - what Malachy does say
is:
"In persecutione extrema S.R.E. sedebit Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oves in
multis tribulationibus: quibus transactis civitas septicollis diruetur, & Judex
tremędus judicabit populum suum. Finis.
(In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by
Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations, at the term
of which the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the formidable Judge
will judge his people. The End.)"
so Peter the Roman may not, in fact be the pope but some significant character
during the destruction of Rome when the uh formid-uh-dable. um.. uh.. judge ...
should I be wearing my tinfoil hat when I list the following stuff together?
Romano Prodi, professor of economics and former left-wing Christian Democrat. It
is now subsumed into the new coalition L'Unione. He named his current party,
'The Olive Tree,' and ran in the general election of April 9 and 10, 2006

"...
Italy's centre-left opposition leader Romano Prodi has been declared official
winner of the parliamentary election after an extremely close race.
But his rival, centre-right PM Silvio Berlusconi, refused to admit defeat,
saying there had been irregularities.
Official results showed Mr Prodi had won just enough seats to control the Senate
(upper house) after having already won a lower house majority.
He rejected Mr Berlusconi's suggestion of forming a grand coalition.
The count gave Mr Prodi 158 Senate seats, against 156 for Mr Berlusconi.
The final results came after a nail-biting night of conflicting forecasts, based
on exit polls and partial counts, which variously put the coalitions of Mr Prodi
and his rival ahead.
