. . .First off, you may have missed this, but:

. . .Second, no need to type all in caps. We hear you, and in typewritten terms it's the equivalent of shouting. People may be more attentive to that which you have to say when you do so in a more normal way.
. . .Third, since this post appears political in nature, I am moving this to the "Politics and Current Events" section.

. . .Be sure to check-out all we have to offer, we've got enough topics of interest to please anyone! Again, Welcome!

Are you paying attention Bunnings?

The media is already portraying this whole aid thing as a pissing contest between who can give the most. Good you've done your part.

The media is already portraying this whole aid thing as a pissing contest between who can give the most. Good you've done your part. Yeah they are Subs. I was just thinking. In most of these affected areas, was there that much (Monetarily) damage? These are poor areas right? They could put all the aid money into one bank account. Issue all the survivors an ATM card with an equal set amount, and then just leave the country. They would have created an overnight middle class. They could then hire the poor people in their own country, the ones that weren't affected, to initiate/finish the clean-up. Why not?

First figures I heard for monetary damage was in fact MUCH less than what has been given so far in cash from various governments. As far as I know, it is still much less. But I must admit, the last figures I've heard are sort of old. You still have a major point, and I still wonder what monetary dmgs have been sustained. As skippy pointed out, even Doctors Without Borders is saying they have enough already to deal with the crisis.

What I do not get is that Bin Laden and Zarqawi aren't sending over their cronies to help their Muslim brothers in the Tsunami areas.

You never know. I don't think the media is too keen on reporting Bin Laden's freinds are going over to "help" the Tsunami victims.

Well I don't see them calling for it either. I have visited their websites quite often, too.

Well, there was the terrorist "decision" that they made public not to attack Americans or aid workers in the tsunami affected areas.

Does that count?

Interesting things ...

Tsunami: Little aid from Arab countries (http://www.asianews.it/view.php?l=en&art=2290)

A telethon held in oil-rich Saudi Arabia raised more than 308 million riyals ($82.13 million) for victims of the Asian tsunami, state media said on Friday.

from http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L07533287.htm

Weeden estimates corporate tsunami donations could eventually reach as high as $750 million -- based on an assumption that companies will earmark roughly 5 percent of their total charitable gifts for the year to the cause. That would far exceed donations after Sept. 11.
...
By the end of last week, at least 142 U.S. companies had publicly announced $182.7 million in donations or pledges to assist tsunami victims, according to a tally compiled by The Associated Press. The donations include $89.9 million in cash, $25.8 million in matching funds and at least $55 million in products and services.

The list does not include gifts by smaller companies that have likely gone unnoticed, as well as some very large contributions reportedly made by firms that would not publicly confirm them....

The earthquake that caused tidal waves to slam into the coast of Southeast Asia, killing at least 145,000 people, could have been the result of joint American, Israeli and Indian underwater weapons testing, an Egyptian weekly and other Arab media charged.
