....No More Late Fee's...... ? huh?!???

Are they intentionally trying to go out of business?

I do not know much about business... but I do know it is probally not the greatest idea to remove the late fee!

Is this just an experiment run by the government to see just how trustworthy people really are?

I think that it is a global franchise, isn't it?

errr...for about $9.99/month, you can check out movies and hold them for as long as you want with no late fees. when the monthly subscription is up, you have to pay late fees.

i think they're trying to compete with cheap DVDs, cable/satellite, and Netflix. They had to do something, they were losing business.

Yeah emerald is right. I am in business for myself and i know how this stuff works. You see these adds on tv and believe them. Don't be fooled! Always remember there is no such thing as a free lunch.

I dunno wtf blockbuster is talking about with this latest ad campaign, but they've had "no late fees" for quite a while now if you buy thier "unlimited movies for $X.YZ per month," which I assume has something to do ewith this.

I'm not sure where this comes into politics, and I'm really confused about where your question comes from: "Is this just an experiment run by the government to see just how trustworthy people really are?"

I own an Indy Video store in my city so I have knowlegde about what is going on.....

To let you know about the Blockbuster deal with no late fees.

This comes from my Video Business magazine.....by Blockbuster eliminating late fees they are losing about %20 of their revenue by this....which imo is crazy....it could come back to bite them in the ass....

Late fees at my store account for about %20 of my revenue as well....if i eliminated late fees, Id be out of business...

Anway, back to Blockbuster....late fees are eliminated, but if you do not return the VHS or DVD within 30 days, you Credit Card will be charged the price of the movie...thus you own it...

Be careful though....if some of you still use VHS there are tapes that cost $70 because they are not available to the general public....only Video Stores...

If you guys have any other questions.....ask me....

Later...

Lots of DVD rental companies have sprung up over here in the last few years with similar schemes. Not sure if blockbuster has started though

Might be a good thing if Blockbuster went out of business. But of course, the next biggest chain would come in and scoop up the revenue. I've noticed consistantly in my area over the past couple years, the Blockbuster stores have been moving into smaller buildings, and the smaller video rental stores have been sprouting up more and more. And usually, most of the time, the smaller chains have a better selection of DVD's and videos, and are cheaper.

Now that we're on it, how can we get Walmart to go out of business?. :2thumbs:

Blockbuster is a subsidary of Viacom which a lot of production comes from so they get a lot of the DVD's for free!
