Pope John Paul II's Last Words

" I love you, With my every breath, With all I have left, From the deepest depths, Of my heart, I love you.

With all of my strength, With a thousand miles' length, Every thought I think, And each, I love you.

For the length of forever, As long as I can remember, Through good and bad weather, For always, I love you.

When no one is there, When you think no one cares, When love seems too rare, Remember, I love you.

When everything's gone, When all has withdrawn, When hopelessness dawns, Don't forget, I love you.

When you fall down, When your dreams come unwound, When hope can't be found, Be happy, I love you.

When you make mistakes, When you're filled with hate, When you're old and gray, Even then, I love you.

Until the very end of days, Until my breath is taken away, Until death separates our ways, Even after then, I love you.

Tell the Commonwealth Queen, raise my Almighty's Helestone, my great God of forces, my successor.

I, love, you. "

...sorry my scepticism, but HOW could these been his LAST words?

I heard a witness to his death say his last word was "Amen". I think that's more impressive than your post. Whatever criticism you could have, this gave me a feeling of respect for the man: he stood by his faith until his last breath.

Agreed, for what reason would he rant on with some love poem?

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Bigsky has a point.........

how would he manage to say all that on his death bed, when he could not speak on easter sunday?

My apologies if my view offends Catholics but..
I really don't understand what's the big deal with the pope. Millions of people have died this year already. In fact people probably died on the same day he died. I'd rather mourn for the child that dies after years of starvations and homeless, that's my real hero. The catholic church is a bureaucracy, and judging from history, a corrupt one at that.

Maybe his last words were
"I.....'m reallly annnn atheiisst."

Just my 2 cents.

The Holy See said it was just another one of those many Catholic
miracles when He spoke it ever so fluently. Of course it was just
another day at the office for them. Not that big of a deal really.

. . .Welcome, Jazman! Great to have you here. . .Though I should tell you that it would be best for you to get thyself (quickly) to Fr. Bill Nye to confess your sinfullness and become one of the brethren with the faith of "Jedianity".

OMG, you WILL get some reaction on that....

How about "...aaaahhhrrggghhhh..."? I heard him say that one before.. And with some imagination you could even hear "Amen" in it...

No seriously... To be honest, does it really matter?!? I'll believe the "Amen"...

Moments before Death, John Paul IInd recites poetry!

Reported by Ben Dover
UPI Wireservice, Rome, Italy - - Moments before Pope John Paul the IInd was to die, he had reportedly shocked both physicians and witnesses in attendance alike by launching into a lengthy bit of poetry, a piece that may have been titled "I Love You", author, unknown though it was whispered that it may have been taken from one of the many eccliastical pronouncements that John Paul the IInd had written previously. As an encore' to the Pope's performance, he also did this whilst drinking two pitchers of Draft ale, one pound of potato-chips accompanied with a small container of French-onion potato-chip dip, also while viewing NASCAR highlights featuring his favourite driver, Jeff Gordon. Olympics Judges who were in attendance scored the Pope on Fluency, Recall ability sans' the use of 'crib-notes' and Projection-of-voice, where the Pope was expected to fail since he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's, had a tracheotomy and a(n) Naso-Gastric tube in his nose. Judges scored the Pope's performance 9.6, 9.6, 9.5, 9.2, 9.0 and 8.8, (respectively). In other news, one of the 9.6 scorings came from a Polish Judge that sparked a debate within the Olympics Community although one of the judge's was heard to exclaim "It is with sadness that the pope cannot make the next Olympics. . .He did extremely well". Enditem.

. . .You might think from my last post that it was as an 'aside' to Pope John Paul the IInd, quite the opposite, I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the man, and yet further I still do think him "Honourable", it's just that I would have to think that controversy such as this (what the Pope's last words were) in that people would expect him to engage in a lengthy reading are nothing short of ridiculous and stupid. . .

. . .I would think that right now he's having a good laugh at that from the beyond / If I were he I know I would, anywho. . .

No disrespect to the Pope, but once again, it's real convenient that there's NO evidence of this whatsoever. We're living in an age where virtually EVERYTHING gets videotaped or at least the audio gets recorded. Not a surprise that this "miracle", like all "miracles" before this one, would be no exception...

I have to agree with that. I watched a lot of the coverage during the "Pope Watch" and not once did they mention the Pope going into much discussion.

Now there was an interview with a close friend of his on CNN who said even at the end the Pope had a sence of humor. He said he was discussing the request from CNN to discuss the Pope's life after his death. Acording to this friend the Pope asked him how he knew that he (the Pope) would go first.

Acutally, I already checked the Vatican site but couldn't find anything there. I read both French and English, and I can get a limited grasp of Italian and Spanish, but still couldn't find anything. Now the Vatican site is very slow at the best of times, these days more so. Great graphics, but they slow things down a bit. Can you point me to the page. (btw....I was given the Vatican site about a month before it official opened, so I've been there more than once.)
