Is it really that unrealistic, that Europa contains life, and a civilization? I dont think so. I mean, ok, Europa is 30 million years old, and Earth is a cuople of billion years old. But is it really that impossible, for an intelligent race to evolve and even pass us in the evolution race? What do you think?

It is highly likely that there is microbial and primitive life forms on Europa, however I should not expect any highly advandced life-forms. If there is Geo-thermal activity on Europa the chances are increased though, so who knows.

The reality is: nobody knows. My guess is as good as yours, but I'd say there might be microbes, or even very primitive plankton like organisms, nothing intelligent.

We could roghly say that we are "strooling in the dark". No one nows about if it really contains a civilization at Europa, one can only buy writing and counting for quite some time, tell the odds if their is something their. I would, however, hold my breath if they would send someone to drill for life!

While it would not surprise me if microbial life was found on Europa (especially if there is geothermal activity), I doubt that intellegent life could have evolved in such a short time. If there was intellegent lofe on Europa however, I think it woudl be much different then the intellegent life on Earth.

But then again who is to say that evolution on Europa can't evolve much faster then on Earth? What if they don't have major holocausts there as on Earth? I mean, if there haven't been any ELE on Europa, the civilization on Europa could be even more advance then our. Only future can tell, I suppose, but everyone have there theory about something we don't have a clue about, right?

I think nrj has a very good point there, even though we have our atmosphere, sat on this rock, we are very expossed, while any life on europa is deep under thick ice and deep in the oceans nicely protected, though i wouldn't like to see the effects if europa were to be struck by a large meteorite.

So yes, as nrj says, life there could well be in advance of our own, it would be so weird to find an intelligent race that have evolved in water, imagine what there technology would be like, they wouldn't have electricity like we do hehehe i could sit here dreaming up fantastic things all day..........

Well, they might have find an alternative energy. We didn't have electricity in the 18th century, but we were an intelligent race back then, right? Maybe they use like... water driven enrgy. Well, as you delicetaly said, Red Shift, you can sit there and just dream about their technology. Well, their possible technology.
