View Full Version : NEW THREAT!!!

in wake of the recent concerns over possible supervolcano activity in north america and widespread panic, comes new reports of an even more threatening possible end to life on planet earth.
scientists at the global expansion research and development facility in nebraska have calculated that within the next thousand years thermal expansion of the earth could cause the surface of the earth to extend beyond the upper limits of out atmosphere.
these scientists claim that due to global warming and the resulting thermal expansion the entire earth wil grow pushing the surface of the earth further towards space. eventually, the surface could extend beyond our protective atmosphere. the moment this happens the vacuum in space would suck everything out into space.
anyone (well everyone actually, there's no escape) who get sucked out into space will not have long, the scientists say. within a few seconds due to the low pressure your blood would boil causing you to explode in a shower of icky bits and intestinal tissue.
the scientists in nebraska are currently co-ordinating with scientists around the world to formulate some kind of plan to save the planet, with the current favourite idea being to construct a large belt to go round the equator to hold the earth in. arguments have erupted within the international communtiy over which country the buckle should go in.
scientists also worry that all the boiled off blood caused by exploding humans and animals in space around the edge of the earth may attract space sharks. similair to the more well known aquatic sharks only much bigger, these monsters can sniff blood from many light years away. not to worry though, as everyone will be dead by the time they get here.
current government advice includes consulting your physician to check which vaccine shots you will need to be protected in space, completing a course of pills designed to prepare the body for extreme low pressure exposure, and going down to the nasa surplus store and geting a space suit.
good luck everyone!

(oh and watch out for the moon, as due to the earths increased size it will be rolling around the surface like an enormous bowling ball, instead of orbiting as it does now.)

What good will the hills be when we've been expanded through the atmosphere?

Did you make all this crap up yourself, or is there actually a resource that discusses the Earth's expansion?

I can decipher the obvious fiction, I'm just curious about the less obvious.

Oh, and people don't explode in space, they implode. ;)

no this really is all genuine!
it took me ages to do all the research and evaluation of the available evidence and data, i wouldnt put out a malicious rumour just to scare the @#%$ out of middle america now would i?

no, i wouldnt.

Maybe you should. Mark Hazlewood got rich doing it with Planet X, and I'm sure the millenium bug worked wonders for the IT industry.

Okay Laz, not that I don't believe you but you have to educate me as to why people implode in space. I thought space was a vaccum and when a biological organism got exposed to open space then all the gasses in the body exit very fast, rupturing cells and the like.

You just said that it might occur within the next thousand years. No need to run to the hills yet. Nebraska scientists huh? Thanks for making us laugh.

Me too Vegas. Surely, if we live in an atmosphere of 15lbs per sq inch, there has to be pressure outwards from within our bodies to compensate for that. So why would we implode in space?

lazserus

Exactly because of the pressure. If we had more pressure inside pushing out than our atmosphere we would EXplode. If there is more pressure outside than in we're going to IMplode. Apparently the pressure is space is extraordinary that NASA has to built extra thick vessels to compensate. That's why they do their testing in the ocean. ;)

Okay Laz made me breakout my old science books. Apparently Human cells are not rigid and can't hold pressure without being in an osmotically balanced environment or they swell and burst. Our cells are exerting approximately 7.1 atmospheres of outward pressure. So, if you break the cell wall (Remember ours aren't rigid) they burst due to high osmotic pressure of their protoplasm.
The pressure in interstellar space is unmeasurably close to zero, because there are almost no particles to transfer momentum. Now, there is some pressure due to electromagnetic radiation. The pressure one would encounter would be in direct corralation to an electro magnetic radiation source.
CONCLUSION: For a human to implode they would have to be in an area of interstellar space that had an unusually high electro magnetic radiation source.

"In outer space one would also face extreme changes in temperature. The temperature in the sunlight is 120 °C, which is higher than the boiling point of water. In the shade the temperature is about -100 °C, way below the freezing point of water. The body tissue (skin, heart, other internal organs) would expand because of the boiling fluids. However, they would not "explode" as depicted in some science fiction movies, such as "Total Recall". Death would occur within one minute."

I really do not think the world will be there then, its scary cause i imagine 300 yrs from now, to have like 200-300,000 people wearing gas masks, and a completely destroyed world on fire, with the hole in the ozone covering 3/4 of the world, and a new mutation of our long time never dying friend the roach.

Hmm... sounds a little dreary Mensa Genius :( perhaps the fire will counteract the freezing ice age temperatures, the modern gas masks will be light weight, and with inbuilt temple massage vibrators, and newly mutated roaches will be kind and friendly.

NASA conducts astronaut training under water (not in the ocean, but in a tank), because it gets them used to working in a weightless environment.

You should write articles for the Weekly World News. This is great stuff
