Why does everyone seem to think the world will end sometime in December in the year 2012?

Just because this acient crappy calendar ends in december 2012 doesnt mean its the end.

I must wonder why its always december 2012?

not everyone thinks it is going to end...it is a common misconception that people make when they see an ending to something such as a calendar. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012 because it is the end of that stage/era.


December 21, 2012 is also the Winter Solstice, and provides us with a view that will not be seen again in any of our lifetimes. The Sun will conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way in the ecliptic, giving us view of the Sacred Tree as called by the Maya, giving us view of the Tree of Life.

Indeed. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012, saying it is the end of the current age. By their mythology, this indicates an "age of enlightenment" or something, can't remember that...
But it does not specifically state that the world will end then.

my thought is that it will just not end...and instead we'll all be stuck with gallons of water and flashlights like we were at Y2K...

But perhaps there will be some sort of transition...

2012 is the begining of the Next Age Od Unreason. the whole solar system will be moving into a new part of space where the laws of thermodynamics will change, causing widespread problems as dead bodies Stop Rotting Away.

eventually we'll have to do something when All The Corpses keep piling up and not getting any stinkier, just making a bigger pile.

Soon the living won't have room to play anymore, we'll have to walk on the dead to do so...

Couldn't we just carry on burying the dead? Rather than walk on them.

However if dead don't rot any more we could also use them as interesting objects d'art or amusing furniture ideas.........

THe horror industry would collapse a little but there are always sufferer's in the new age.

At least my nice juicy stake will stay lovely and palatable, even if I leave it out for a few months! Great!

Additionally, Earth's major north magnetic pole for the past 100 years is has been ever accelerating toward near alignment with the geographic north pole. The magnetism from the underworld of the core certainly will affect weather patterns as well as animal and human behavior.

So very soon we will have both the outer world of the sun and the underworld of the core inducing change on the surface of the earth for humans to be influenced by.

Of other calendar notes is that April 2012 will mark the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The end of 2013 will mark the 100 year anniversary of the formation of the Federal Reserve Board.
