This happened a little over a year ago and I just wanted to get it off my chest. It occurred the end of may 2004. It's kind of long and boring but I just wanted to be thorough.

I drove out into the country by myself near dusk with a digital camcorder with idea of filming stars for use in the video I had to put together for school. When I thought I was far enough out I drove down a dirt road and pulled off to the side. I was in the open and had a good view. It wasn't completely dark yet, there was still a little orange at the horizon from the setting sun. I sat out on the car for 10-20 minutes waiting for it to get completely dark so more stars would be visible. I was just relaxing and was very comfortable. Just above the tree line which was acouple hundred yards away (maybe half a mile) an interesting lit object caught my eye. At the time I don't remember this object being particular alarming. I watched it for a bit but quickly realized it was quite odd. It wasn't moving extraordinarily fast like some might associate with a ufo (it wasn't breaking the sound barrier). I'd describe it as hovering and slowly moving. It was kind of eerie. I decided to begin filming with this object and thought it would be perfect for the video that I was filming. It was clearly covering ground and moving across the tree line. The object was kind of pacing as it was changing directions right and left. I'd estimate that the object couldn't have been more then acouple miles behind the tree line. At a few points I actually lost the object behind the treeline. I also noticed perpendicular movement where it would go straight up and down. While I did notice directional changes generally it was moving left along the tree line. It was clearly transversing alot of distance along the horizon. The object was just hanging around. It let off light and was bright. However when I zoomed in it wasn't just a bright light or a fireball. I wish I could try and describe it but it's kind of hard with a limited memory and vocabulary. Basically all I'm trying to say is it was a vehicle or a craft and not a fireball or possible earthly phenomenon or space phenomenom as this object was clearly in our atmosphere, very close to the ground, and not too far away. Still it appeared as a moderately bright light but what I'm trying to say is that there was more to it which is kind of hard to explain (this was most noticeable when zoomed in).

While I put an emphasis on filming this object I also switched up and filmed the stars now that it was dark enough. I also filmed another light (a plane) as it moved across the sky because I wasn't sure what exactly I was going to need for the video. I always of course went back and filmed this object. It did disappear behind the tree line a few times but it always quickly became visible again. I had 10 minutes of footage which was more then enough. 6 minutes exclusively on this object and 4 minutes filming the sky. I of course sat down in the car and played back what I had before leaving. Mainly to see that object and make sure I had good footage of it. I remember playing it back and thinking this was really good quality, very convincing, and couldn't wait to go home and show my brother and family. From what I remember the object was still hanging around when I decided to leave. Driving home I kind of remember jokingly looking back to make sure this object wasn't following me and checking the time to make sure I didn't lose any. It was a pretty normal drive home and I don't remember anything unusual happening. I walked into the house and the first thing I said was "I got a UFO", "I filmed one", "I got good footage of it", etc. The first thing I did was turn on the digital camcorder to start playing the footage. Now this is the part where everyone rolls there eyes and think it's BS. The footage was black. I can imagine a little kid telling this story and saying how the footage came back black. My brother came by and asked to see it which I was still frantically going through it trying to find it. It wasn't there and I basically had to say it's black. My brother laughed and said what a stupid liar and how full of **** I was. He even gave me crap asking if I left the lid on which is obviously preposterous. A) digital camcorders have a mini screen which show what is in the view while filming B) I played back the footage and reviewed all of it in the car before heading home. There is simply no way to accidentally make it turn black.

Here's the interesting part. Remember the 4 minutes of the sky and plane? All that was still there. Just the footage of that object was missing. A few times I actually switched from the object to the sky which makes for interesting intervals. The point is I still had 10 minutes of footage. 6 minutes of it came back black which means I still filmed something. I wasn't just filming nothingness. So what the hell was I filming in those 6 minutes? The fact that it came back black actually gives credibility to my story. I filmed something but it was just blackened out. When I finally uploaded all the footage for the video to my computer I edited it to death. It was 10 minutes of footage from the country. 6 minutes of black that should have been the object and 4 minutes of the sky. I spent enough time with this footage there's no question about it. Seriously how do you go about recording blackness like that?

This also brings up the question that there is obviously intelligence inside of this object. It obviously knew it was being filmed. On the way back as easily as I could have uploaded this footage to my computer it took the data and simply blackened out what it didn't want me to see. Basically if you want to film a U.F.O. don't use a digital camcorder as they can easily manipulate the data. People always ask why there isn't better evidence or footage of ufo's and when **** like this happens is it any surprise? I also didn't have shaky hand syndrome and it wasn't just a quick little clip. I'm guessing part of the reason was since it was a digital camcorder which gave it incredible quality but also made it more vulnerable. This object could have been enlarged and examined and could have been damning evidence. They simply decided to fix it and this was obviously done with ease which doesn't surprise me as one would expect they would be very advanced technologically. I've just kept this to myself and mention it a few times to my brother which he likes to give me crap about but knows I wouldn't just make this up for the hell of it. For some reason I have just shrugged this episode aside and have hardly given too much thought to it. However I do remember and think about it from time to time. I wonder how many other people have incidents like this where they just shrug it aside and must think there is a rationale explanation. There are literally tens of thousands of ufo reports a year. Take this example which seems kind of amazing and I have just kept it to myself. Now there's no question in my mind ufo's are real and they are controlled by intelligences. Recently this has been bothering me alot and I kind of feel like I was cheated out of my footage. At the time I didn't think of it as damning evidence but it must have been for them to blacken it out like that.

I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of something similar happening or have a story of their own to share.

Interesting story there AK. Data manipulation could be the real reason why all media is being converted to digital. I've never been impressed with the, so called, digital quality of sound and pics. The only real benefit of digital mediums to me has been the manipulation of the data. When our Nextel radios first came out, I could walk by a computer, key the chirp function of the radio, and make the computer screen go blank. I imagine its not beyond even our technological grasp to cause the data loss on your video recorder. I believe that your relating of your experience is factual.

when I was a kid I once saw a silver 'L' shaped thing flying around like a weird boomerang. I pointed it out to the members of my little league team and we all saw the odd thing in the sky. No explanation for it, it wasn't a plane or an RC toy, it wasn't 'flying' using any visible means of propulsion and it seemed to defy physics with it's sudden sharp turns and changes in direction.

years later I heard about Rods - and I started wondering if I'd seen a 'wounded' rod flying about, bent like an L. still thinking about this one...

and didn't the US Army once develop an EM 'gun' to use against spies as a means of 'fogging' their film? I remember hearing a tale of how the EM gun was ineffective for this purpose but it did have an effect on regular 35mm film from a distance of tem metres, just not good enough for anti-spy work.

And VR, you live within spitting distance of Dreamland and Skunkworks. I bet you see weird stuff in the sky more often than the rest of us see clouds, lol.

Unidentified lights are pretty common here but the brightness of the city lights block out a whole lot as well. Its actually pretty surprising that many people don't actually look at the sky at night. Fellow coworkers and I see unidentified lights pretty regularly, at satellite height, flying in irregular patterns.

Just me bein sceptical but the atmosphere makes objects appear to fly irregular, i often see the space station or satelites flyin across the nights sky and they appear to change direction or fly kind ov zig zagged...

1 thing i have seen that got me thinkin tho,

I lived in West Wales sometime ago and u dont get any glow from the major citys anyways i was walking back from the pub ( dont laugh i wasnt drunk) through a dark minor road and all ov a sudden the whole lane lit up and i looked round to the direction it came from which was off the coast out at sea and there was this great big ball ov light that shined brighter than anythin i have ever seen,

My 1st thought was it was a distress flair but it just kept headin up and up and never came back down.

After about 3 mins it vanished out ov our atmophere and left me puzzled to what it could be and my only option really was a U.F.O, a week later it was reported in our local newspaper that it had bee seen somewhere in Cardigan bay by a few people and this area covers about 300 square miles, the explanation someone gave was that it was strange electrical phenomina,

Ive read somewhere that u get alot ov theses strange occurances around mountain ranges.

It was as close to a UFO sighting as i have ever come across and i hope im lucky enough to see it again in my lifetime.
