View Full Version : An odd dream...

I need some advice.
About a week ago, I had a strange dream. I don't remember much of it, but i remember seeing myself walking down the streets of my hometown. Suddenly, the normally clear, sunny skies grew very dark, as if it was night. Was it an eclipse? very unlikely. Before i knew it some of the people around me started glowing brightly and simply disappeared into thin air, myself included. However, those who were left behind were plunged into deep darkness and dispair.
Did i just dream about the rapture? In the dream I didn't look that much older than i am now at 23... i looked like i was either 24 or 25...
If any of you know the meanings behind dreams, can one of you decode this for me? Thank you.

I don't know much about dreams... but...
as I was reading your post I was thinking that maybe it might mean enlightenment... A growth of sorts. Those who started to glow like your self could represent others with the same knowledge or understanding you have. The others could represent that which you have outgrown.
Are you by any chance reaching a major change in your life? A change in work of school or a move?
Please forgive the ramblings of a tired mind... Those are just the thoughts I had while reading your post...

well... back in february i moved for the first time from my dad's house and i've been living alone in my apartment ever since and soon i'm heading into a volunteering job somewhere- most likely the humane society....
you know, i never looked at it like that... enlightenment... thanks! :) but i'd like to see other's opinions and suggestions too. it could mean a lot of other things as well...
thanks again!

Another theory - you might have dreamed about the rapture, but that doesn't necessarily mean you were looking into the future. You might've just been, y'know, dreaming about the rapture, like someone else might dream about flying. Of course, I don't know much about your psyche, but it's hard to figure out what dreams could mean anyway.

I hesitate to post this, but... Dreams mean nothing. I once dreamed I was walking with a moose in down town, and the moose got angry and ran away, leaving me crying and getting pushed by a drunk... Well, that's what I remember from the dream. I don't think anything's hidden in dreams.

it may be relating to you leaving to live on your own and in a sense moving on up if you get what i mean.i myself have recently moved to australia and have had dreams of people dissapering while i am talking to them.

I agree with nrj. Dreams don't necessarily mean anything at all. For example, my wife once dreamed that her mother was dancing like the Rockettes, arm-in-arm with a deer, while her and the deer were singing "Paperback Writer" by The Beatles. I think we ate Mexican food that night. Anyway, dreams are largely manifestations of one's subconscious mind. Whatever goes through your mind during the day may pop up in your dreams during sleep. Please don't ask me to interpret the deer dream though...

I once dreamt that I was lieing out under the trailer with my dog I had as child. The dog was speaking to me assuring me that everything was allright and not to be sad. I had been living away from home for a number of years at that stage, leaving my dog in the care of my mother.
2 days later she called to say that my dog had passed away. Strange but true.
I guess dreams mean nothing at all hey ...

Marlag, I have had a similar dream to that. It was of a neighbor. When I was in High School the family next door to us was very good family friends. The parents were good friends and Fathers worked together. Us Kids were always in each others houses as if they were our own.
One night not long ago I had a dream about that family... We were all at their house in the Kitchen and the Father of that other family was giving me a hug and saying good by. A few days later I found out he had passed away.
Similar expierence... I can still remember how that hug felt in my dream...

Pretty amazing Mara !! ... I don't pretend to know or understand anything about dreams, but I've read far too many stories(aswell as the odd experience myself) about these weird and wonderful things that people experience with dreams. Maybe there's something more, maybe there aint, but until someone can explain them, I know which camp I'm in :D

Here Here Marlag! Well said.
And... I am very glad you got to have that memory of your dog and a chance to say good bye in a sence, even if it was a dream. It is those feelings that will last long after the loved one is gone.

These are all very interesting responses. with dreams, there are no right or wrong answers. just a bunch of theories. but they could all be linked to one right after another... but the odd thing is, back about 2 years before september 11 happened, i had dreams over and over again about a plane hitting two tall towers. then two years later, it actually happens. But i highly doubt a rapture would take place in the next couple years... but it could be possible.
Thanks for taking the time to write out all your thoughts and suggestions. i greatly appreciate it now and feel slightly better about it... thanks again.
