A good effort, CELL, but the religious folk here on the boards will tell you that Satan actually ANTICIPATED the coming of Christ and subsequently created many duplicate "Christs-like" figures in order to create confusion. I tried this angle before and was stunned at the sheer stupidity of this "explanation". I've seen over and over again on these boards that logic has NO place in religion. No bullshit is too low to stoop to in order to preserve religious "historical accuracy" apparently...

Many of these Gods, like Christ, were (reputedly) born on the 25th of December. Looks like this guy didn't delve too far into the research since it's a well known fact that Christ wasn't born in December. He expounds upon all the pagan facts which is good. However, he missed a plethora of documentation that points out biblical interpretations and historical documentation as describing the weather and other activities during that time of year. I don't remember the exact documentation but the closest anyone has gotten to a date or time of year would be the equivalent of October in North America, hardly a winter time of year.

You're kidding me. Goddammit, sometimes I wish I was still a Christian. I can actually explain this crap away without sounding like a moron.

I think he was drawing on the parallel that even though most studied individuals know jesus wasnt born in december, most pagans still adopt Dec 25th as his birthday, as the gods off before...
If this wasnt true, we wouldnt be celebrating christmas still

Actually, it's proven that Dec. 25 is Constantines birthday. And, as a matter of fact, a holiday for the Sun. People during Constantines time thaught that since Jesus is suppost to be a light (not weighing little) person, that a holiday for him should be on the day of the Sun.

If this wasnt true, we wouldnt be celebrating christmas still Uh, I apologize for being anal, (which was why I took some exception to the article) but from the best of my recollection pagans didn't actually celebrate Christ's birthday until they fully converted to christianity, thus not being considered paganistic anymore. I'm more in agreement with Bob's explanation regarding the holy day of the sun, which btw is how catholicism got it's foot in the door.

As far as it being the reason christmas is still celebrated on Dec 25th, you just depressed a whole lot of retailers by that statement since it is they who demand worship up to that day!

By pagans, I actually was referring to christians. I know paganism is literally defined as a non christian/jew/muslim...but it also refers to a polytheist.
When you consider all of the representations that christians bow down to and all the extra attributes they assign to "god" Then you can see that these people are anything BUT monotheistic, hence why I call them pagans.

Alright CELL!!!!!!!!!

I've been saying that since the day I joined, which was August I think.......
But anyhow, I totally agree with that!

Actually, read the posts in the thread: It's rather pathetic That's pretty much all it talks about. How Jesus isn't G-d, and he actually said so himself.

That's really only some Christians, mainly Catholics.

There are 200 something prophesies that Jesus supposedly fulfils.

Can you name a few of them and give proof?
