View Full Version : Why There is So Much Suffering In the World Even Though There's A God

You know how it talks about in the Torah, asking us to act like G-d?
G-d in the Torah is closely associated with compassion, by asking us to be like G-d, we are being asked to be compassionate, just, loving, etc
What good would it do if all of a sudden all our evil inclinations and urges were stopped? Would we really be learning to be like G-d if we weren't even ourselves...but rather chained down and kept under controle.
The Torah is a call to action. It zaps you between the eyes and says, "Hey! Go out there and make the world a better place with your deeds and actions! Make this world wonderful, show you are capable of being godlike, show you can change an entire planet!"
G-d is within us all...it's our choice as humans to either act satan, or act as Adonai to the Earth and all humanity!
There's an idea refferd to as Kabbala. It is commonly known as the heart of Judaism.
It accepts the fundamental Judaist/Torah ideal that we are all pieces of G-d. And it says G-d actually uses us to perfect himself.
G-d manifests pieces of himself as humans, to perfect G-d through good deeds and actions (mitzvot). And by perfecting ourselves we perfect our shard of G-d (spirit).
We are creating G-d here on Earth.
G-d HAS interfered and helped us. G-d gave us the Torah which is a call to action, asking us to perfect ourselve, in turn perfectiong G-d, and making the Earth the kingdom where G-d reigns because of our past actions of goodness.
You can't blame it on G-d, only on ourselves. G-d will really exist when we humans finally get ourselves together and do something for ourselves and the world!

Answer: there isn't a God. If there is, he's either evil and uncaring or imperfect.
You are right about one thing, though. We can only rely on ourselves to make the world better, nothing and nobody else will help.

The Scriptures tell us what we should eat, and why not to eat other things.
We are not to be having sex with other mens wives. Now we have 125 STD's
Because Queers are allowed to live their life styles, we now we have AIDS.
It is a sick world.

God is just this poor sap watching us screw it all up after he told us how to do it right. You got to feel for him, right? WRONG!
There are tons of consciousness raising material on the shelves, why are'nt people reading it?

Answer: there isn't a God. If there is, he's either evil and uncaring or imperfect.
G-d's imperfect because we won't do anything to help eachother. G-d's imperfect because humans don't do as many good deeds and actions as we should.
We aren't perfecting ourselves, so we have an imperfect G-d.
When it comes down to it, it's not an evil G-d or an evil satan...it's our actions HERE ON EARTH.
We make G-d and satan through our deeds.

There is suffering in the world because people have made mistakes. It does not matter whether there is a God or not. People do things for there own good and often forget the needs of others. That is why people suffer. Not because some God is smiting them. Ignorance and apathy causes suffering.

In the first post you gave your opinion as to why there is suffering in the world. Then, I gave my opinion to show that in most ways I agree with your explanation. Sorry, I did not realize we were not allowed to express our opinions in this thread.

That's exactly what I thought when I was desperately trying to find out why people didn't support the ending of institutionalized rape in Iraq. Never given it a second thought even. There was no god to help. I had nothing but contempt for people who believed in God or who gave God credit for things he didn't do. And after I'd solved the riddle of how to fix the Middle East, I found to my surprise that I WAS God!

You know what Kerravon? KEEBLERGIANT IS GOD TOO!
Guess what Kerravon? SAMMY IS GOD TOO!
Guess what Kerravon? Philosopher Foelhe IS G0D TOO!
Guess what Kerravon? BILL NYE IS G0D TOO!
Guess what Kerravon? NRJ IS G0D TOO!
But seriously, you're G-d if you do something to help the world. You're G-d by showing deeds of kindness and good. Nrj and Foelhe aren't necessarily G-d, but they are if they conduct mitzvot (deeds of good will, compassion and love).
(Note to any one that thinks this sounds polytheistic: You can never TECHNICALY be G-d. Only the son of G-d, which is a title that refers to Israel. Basically those few individuals that make G-d on Earth with there actions. They are viewed as G-d's twin.)

It's taking you awhile to respond Jake, I thaught you were the messiah.
Edit: Hhmmm...said he was responding to this thread....
Wait! I'v got it! Jake responds to thread, but doesn't post. He instead cuts and pasts it onto microsoft word or something, and later actually posts it.
And it seems like he can post really long posts in only 30 seconds.

god is perfect already. I cant see how we as carnal human beings can contribute anything to the perfection of god. Its spiritual blindness, no death, that is hurtling the world into suffering. P eople just arent willing to put others above themselves, to think of someone elses welfare instead of your own, and even if we do our motives arent tottally pure. It sounds like god is always getting the blame because hes all powerful and he does nothing. yet hes done more than anyone else, by becoming human, suffering all, serving all, tellin people I AM. he is gathering his remant from all people through his good news, to all who really believe and recieve the holy spirit, before the day when ignorant wicked mman destroys the planet, with his wicked empire
Beatnik Bob
Jan 8th, 2006, 7:44 PM
In my opinion, G-d isn't COMPLETELY perfect. G-d has made plently of mistakes no doubt.
Besides, an imperfect G-d explains why G-d is allowing all this suffering to go on in the world, even though he could very well stop it.
Because G-d needs humans to perfect ourselves even though there is suffering in the world. We perfect ourselves by taking advantage of the suffering and helping people. By perfecting ourselves, we are perfecting G-d..because he's in all of us.
Anyway, this idea/theory explains why G-d isn't interfereing better than any Christian theory.
It sounds like god is always getting the blame because hes all powerful and he does nothing. If anything, I'm taking the blame away.
Yet he's done more than anyone else, by becoming human, suffering all, serving all, tellin people I AM. he is gathering his remant from all people through his good news. Personally I don't believe Jesus ever existed. But for a minute let's pretend that Jesus DID exist.
Jesus suposedly saved people by dying on the cross. But look around you, people are dying, suffering, killing, etc.
Jesus didn't save didly SQUAT!
Sure, you might say he made it possible that people could "accept him in their hearts" and be saved, but that is only helping people on an individual level...and all it's doing is making it possible for people to go to heaven...nothing to help us down here on Earth.
Also, you can show people the way through goodness all you want, but it won't necessarily do anything. Besides, most "Christians" don't do good deeds...whether they accepted Jesus in their heart or not.

Beatnik Bob,
I have been using the god like approach for decades as a leader and I can tell you for sure that it is the way. I have had godly help and protection like no other as a result of using the recommended operating system. I had a tremendous genetic and financial advantage over all others and I have been demonstrating perfection and the ability to permanently solve problems at a rate never seen before. And then as I always suspected would happen I got the nod to step forward as gods choice of leaders. But I always knew I would be the one because I outperformed all others at everything, often times all others combined.
The simple operating system that is recommended in the bible is at this point in history the only system that should be in use. The Internet was the final piece that can link that system and make us all one.
When I was 11 I took a 4" paint brush and wrote Peace on Earth on my bedroom wall and it has been my goal and focus of attention ever since. It is up to humans to fix this world and it can be done in the twinkling of an eye. I have a system that would free everyone and there are very few simple and easy rules you have to remember and attempt to adhere to. This world is complex and restrictive the next is simple and their are no life threatening worries other than accidents which will go down dramatically, just like I was able to do in the past.
And after I achieved and maintained perfection while turning chaos into peace and prosperity for thousands I was compelled to challenge the leaders of this world system to a performance and identity war. All of them VS one of me, just as Jesus did and I was far more intelligent and capable than all of those who stood against me combined.

I dont know if its possible to deny that he ever existed, but not eveyone is going to trust him. He has risen from the dead, so all who die, like you and me , have hope that we to will get to live again. So he has the keys of death, and through a spiritual rebirth we enter the place where he is . he is commanding people everywhere to change their mindset and recieve his spirit...the spirit of truth. to love and not hate, dont steal, dont kill etc. Cant you see him as the one who would redeem israel and the world throughout the old test. These prophets saw him i reckon, ben joseph, the suffering servant, and ben david the coming king. One messiah 2 comings. since his first coming ,as he was rejected by israel, has been gathering the gentiles into his kingdom, and now we wait for god to once again to keep his promises to israel, after a lot of suffering you will recognise him to be messiah . and we will all live happily ever after

He is probably in some court room somewhere trying to convince the judge he is all powerful. I have to admit, I am proud of Jake. In his last post on this thread, he used spaces instead of just one huge, unreadable paragraph. Maybe he will soon learn the basic rules of grammar, although I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Hey collegiate one, I would bet my life verses your one penny that this 450th
(last by intention) in his high school class, start to finish leader, has outperformed everyone you know of combined. Only the perfect man with the proper guidance could do or say such a thing, unless you are calling me a liar or delusional which has already been defended successfully in 5 Massachusetts courthouses and by the states finest head doctors.
Talk is cheap, I fix problems your leaders create, at a rate that is unheard of and you have never seen an all around athlete of my caliber on TV. I am 50 years old and find it impossible for you to find a person so competent at all things. I am still one of the best snowboarders on the slopes of New England, and have always been the most valuable player on every field, what are the odds on that?
Jesus was just as bold as I am, but I have your inventions to work with and that makes a tremendous difference in what I have done and can do. Jesus was here to prepare you for my coming.
I am trying with everything I have available to me to help you, as I have been doing all of my life. I could have stayed home in one of my castles surrounded by 45 holes of golf like at 6096 Pebblebrook lane, N. Olmsted Ohio ( look it up on map quest) or the many other top notch lands and homes I and my family have owned and just let you continue to be led astray. Maybe I should just drive the limo and sit back on my sisters 50" yacht eating lobsters all day and forget all about the less fortunate, environmental damage and the killing spree your leaders are on.

You think you got it bad ... every time I show up at work someone plays the Hallelujah Chorus with Bass Boost, which is bad enough cause everyone knows when I'm late, but as well I've discovered that when I enter or exit a building it is accompanied by the clanging gongs and atonal singing of a billion Chinese who are doubling as my Heavenly Soundtrack and Theme Music Accompan ... The reason why there is no "perfect God" is the same as [Unspecified name which I can't remember and I say sorry to you ^^'] said. Our actions prevent the exsitence of a "perfect God". Even though he in fact, does exist.

I'll bet that, when Jake enters a room, "I'm Too Sexy" starts playing...
"I'm... too sexy for myself... too sexy for Paul Newman... too sexy for Twinkies...
I'm... too sexy for the courts... to sexy for lawyers... too sexy for my haaaaaaand...
I'm the messiiiiiiah, and you know what I do...
I do my little turn in the bakery... in the bakery... in the bakery...
Yeah, I dooooooo my little turn in the bakery..."
And the chorus again:
"I'm the messiiiiiiah and you know what I do...
I threaten people with razor tipped arrows... arrows... arrows...
Yeah, I save the world with razor tipped arrows..."

I take on your leaders in every way I can, face to face no matter what the odds, and have never lost. And I fixed more operational problems than all others combined in many bakeries as an example of how easily I fix the problems your leaders create. Chaos your way VS peace and prosperity using my way, and that is factual, time after time.
I have what some, even doctors say, is the best body speed and hand eye coordination ever recorded. If you plan to beat me at something, you had better be very well schooled and I didn't need to go to school and had minimal coaching and training.
I am a self taught person, leader and athlete with better accomplishments than anyone else in all of time. I refused to do homework in high school, slept through class with my head on the desk, came to school 45 min late and left an hour and a half early for 5 years. Guessed on every test and still passed and went on to lead in three Marine Harrier squadrons of 20 planes each. I have been the production manager in many plants for the largest distributer of baked goods on the planet. And I re-engineered at least 15 % of Hostess cake as the design engineer who conceived of and drafted the plans for a dozen large projects and countless smaller ones in my spare time. I saved $500,000 in accident insurance in one year by eliminating work place injuries in just in one facility, thats how bad the leaders before me were. An that is how incompetent all of your leaders are, which is why I can fix all the problems they create and cannot solve as well.
And that is the truth, at age 45, I still had one of the best tennis serves in the area, and I learned to snowboard in 5 minutes with no instructions. People are still amazed at how quick and agile I am in comparison to the others on the New England slopes, which I hear are among the toughest in the world. I handle the slopes like I am dancing on clouds, and I have not fallen badly in years.

Hey Jake99, if youre so good at everything then why does suffering exist in the world? Why, despite your aparently by noinfinite abilities, do people still starve, do innocent people still die... shouldn't you have solved every single world's problem by now, I mean, especially if you have yet to experienced a problem you cannot solve?

Eternity Takes Big Lessons
we had to see the suffering that turning our Backs on the Fathers Wisdom Would Bring .
remember though think big . Paul said the Sufferings of this world were not worthy to compare with the glory to come /
remember God can fix things . He can resserect the dead .
he can give the poor the earth
he can make the meek win
we had to see it done wrong first so we can really come to beleave in the World of Tomorow .That wonderfull world of Tomorrow . It will be so Perfect ! And we will always Remember the Sufferings we seen from eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil . The Serpent is Wrong We are not like Gods We need Our Fathers Laws.
Judgeing God From a Human View is a very cheap thing to do , go look up in the sky some night on a clear night And Ask What Kind of A person Could make all that ? what will the sufferings of this world be compared to eternity and a universe full of the creators wisdom . this is just a little dark spot for a while
It will be a Shame if some of us don't see the whole show!

I am not that polished at present at singing like Elvis but my younger brother is in that catagory of vocal excellence. He is also in my opinion the best musician the planet has ever seen. I have a resperatory issue with allergies that requires me to take steroids to clear my lungs for singing so I rarely sing because aI dont like the steroids. Many people have said my whole family sings like angels and we are the best rock band in all of time in my opinion.
No one would be allowed to worship me, thank he who sent me for I am a servant not a God.

God is not responsible for the suffering in the world. He doesn't cause it either. Every one received something from God called FREE WILL. If you're about to shoot someone, God doesn't appear to you, and take the gun out of your hand, or save the other person! Man controls himself.
