View Full Version : New member from the UK

I am pleased to be a new member of your forum. I must admit when I saw the "Introduce Yourself" section, I was rather hoping that there would be a "General" Thread where everyone can just add their "Hi my name's etc." Having an entirely unique thread just to introduce me, is a bit daunting! Anyhow, I found this forum because I am very interested in some of these topics.
I run a business selling music CDs (which I have composed as a pianist) to therapists. I have also been reasonably successful selling CDs to residential (old people's) homes, and am launching a business selling inkjet cartridges in the UK soon. A lot of people have told me over the years that it can be a struggle for a musician to run businesses. In many respects they're right - I messed up a few years ago by giving myself an addictive gambling habit! As you can imagine this severely hampered the progression of my acheiving my ambitions.
Thankfully, I successfully knocked it on the head (only 6 months ago), and things have been going better than expected financially ever since. So if there's any gamblers out there reading this, I symphasise with you, but it's fools gold!
Best wishes to all. Hope you had an calamity-free 06/06/06 !!

People come 'n' go, but it's the members like loganosborne, britannia, krakatoa, laszerous, MM, BBBVB3 resented halo, and all others of that genre who are the true aos! But, welcome to the club anyway!

I think this is the appropriate place at ask this - back when I was 12/13 I was a shit-hot expert on computers at school - however, as the years went by, I concentrated on developing my music, and only very recently have I got back into computing, and of course, the internet. So I see "LOL", and I have to admit I don't know what it means! I've asked a couple of people (who don't use the internet) and they don't know either. So, it's a bit embarassing, but if you could enlighten me, I'd be grateful!!

Welcome Jupiter! I hope you will enjoy AO. By the way, lol means "laughing out loud".

Thanks very much for that. Someone had told me that "LOL" meant Lots of Love, but I knew that couldn't be right when I saw the context in which it was being used!

I have elsewhere (in "Is he here?" thread) made a post that I was withdrawing from AO involvement. I have thought longer about it, and received a couple of PMs, and I am going to take some time away from the forum, but then hopefully return in a bit. Some people have really appreciated my presence, and I others, and I do not wish to let people down. I have changed the last post I made in the aforementioned thread, because I think my criticism of 'MD' overstepped what is decent, and it upset me in typing in this way about him. Hopefully see you soon then. Be good to me+three227 everyone, I think she got a rough ride yesterday, and her own posts are very apt on many an occasion.

what is PMs, means my first language is not english. If you dont have to go, if the administrators did'nt tell you to go. Stay. Sometime we can get really angry, That doesn't mean that it is always that way. C.

I've had a good 7 weeks or so as a member as A.O. It's been good to talk to so many interesting people. I'm off on holiday now, so I'm away for 5 days. I'll call in then, but then I've got another trip the next week!
(Making up for it's been so long since I had a holiday).
So, I'll definitely come back, and hope things go well for you all whilst I'm away!

I want to start a thread called 'The Jupiter column' in Off Topic.
It will only be for 8 weeks, and it would be very useful for me, because I have ambitions to run a newspaper! (Jake99 might not approve - I still have a paper version). Anyway, it's my chance to have a trial run...
I would promise to you no advertising or spam from me during the 8 weeks!
You can comment after each of the 8 weekly editions of the columns.
It will be my views on the world, plus ideas, plus current affairs comment - in a neat internet column on A.O. for the next 8 weeks!! Does every Friday suit people?
Do you think this would be a good thread for me to do? It will be placed in Off Topic, but I would hope that at least 2 of these 'articles' I do which are particularly topical for Armageddon Online fans and members. Shall I proceed?
With best wishes.

Wow. This is one of the most pleasant threads I've ever seen here....
of course, DBA had to defile it, claiming that War was "gay for MD..."
..."To each his own" I say... but... yeah...
anyway...

Well thanks for that that's well encouraging :2thumbs: . If Jupiter column goes ahead - it will be interesting to see what you think! 8 weeks of journalistic fun - it will be a real calling I hope. I could start this next Friday - I don't promise the Daily Planet, but I do promise to make it a big priority for me for each of these weeks! Thank you so much.
