Why didn't we try to shoot one of those 5 missiles down? Would have done a world of good if we at least tried - forget the egg in the face if we didn't hit them. At least shows we have the moxie to try - no other country can do that. I read that our missile defense is such a joke when it comes to tests (our record is /12 time works,1/2 time doesn't) that maybe if we tried and failed they'd get somebody to head that program that isn't afraid to try and LEARN why we fail.
Russia needs to get off their butts on this...China needs to lean and lean hard on N. Korea. There is only so much we can do. Can't nuke 'em; other countries don't relish fallout. Can't take 'em out non-nuclear - that's considered China's backyard and they wouldn't take kindly to the intrusion. Somebody needs to get creative fast. N.Korea's only objective is preserving their govt. - not their people. Backs to the wall, all's fair in their book.

When I first heard about it, it sent shivers down my spine. I get the feeling that North Korea is much more willing to launch an attack on the United States, or any enemy within their missile range, then Iran.
This is slightly off-topic, but does anyone remember awhile ago (maybe 6 months?) when a mushroom cloud was seen over North Korea? I never really heard much about it, but I was reminded of it today. Anyone have some more info. on that?

those things fell apart in mid flight, its based on old scud technology,i wouldnt worry about anything they launch.the u.s. icbms have been proven and work as they should every time.no worries. They are way behind in icbm weapon delivery systems.

Don't be to sure about that.
They did launched an missile over japan in 1998. USA might be safe for an while. But
there are enough targets for them left in range to start another war.
Besides, The biggest weapon in war is deterrence, Not firepower.
North Korea Has proven to posses some kind of way to deliver explosives to their target, and I expect an Atomic test sooner or later.
No one is gonna hit North Korea, unless they can be absolutely sure that their city's wont end up glowing in the dark.

Well, they haven't demonstrated they have a working nuke yet, and their delivery system is very unreliable. We shall see.
Hopefully no one gives them anymore food aid. I hate seeing people starve, but they use the food aid to feed their people (primarily the military though) while using the money they SHOULD be using for that for bad purposes.
EDIT: And please don't bring up the USA spending the most on the military in the world. In the USA, people are not starving. Our "most hungry" are in better shape than the "least hungry" that are not a part of NK's elite.

I don't know about anyone else, but for me this is our own modern cuban missile crisis, except it's worse. In '62, people knew enough to start digging. Nowadays, we are more concerned with an old fuck who stole and lot of money and then died before going to jail for it than we are on basic survival should the shit hit the fan.

This is true, but after a missle failure,N.Korea i would imagine would be a little leary of topping one with a nulear warhead. At least til they work out the bugs.

The very first thought when I heard that N. Korea had launched missiles and that they were failures or had exploded after x amount of time was that they had blown the missile up on purpose after having calculated the success of the launch and predicted impact at its destination....
A very similar thing happened when "another" country "tested' missiles. A close ally to N. Korea in fact.
Quote :
On July 22,1998 Iran conducted the first flight test of the Shahab-3 MRBM missile based on No-Dong. The following information was revealed about this test in the Washington Times, on July 24, 1998, "The missile exploded 100 seconds after launch ---- after traveled about 620 miles (997.58 km. down range) over a missile test (range) site in Northern Iran. --- It is uncertain whether that was an accidental explosion or they terminated the flight after achieving what they had to do or because of other reasons." (4) This certainly indicates that the flight was not a total failure but at least a partial success. The Washington Post added it would take one or two years before the Shahab-3 MRBM would be deployed and that, "One government expert described it as "a flight-test for technical purposes" in which the dummy warhead exploded before hitting the ground well down (the test) range." (5)

North Korea also doesn't have any oil and in the eyes of President Bush, that makes it not as important as Iran. That is why Iran is presented as the most dangerous of the two even if that might not be true.

Sorry to get off topic, but Mara keeps hinting at SW and I'm obligated to comment. That's Han Solo. He had a bad feeling about everything and was generally right. Loves to the SW, bitches! I'll comment seriously later.
