so I snooped around and HOLY COW!!

If the whole world were having major earthquakes, I think it would have been on the news right now. I went to the map you linked to Protostar. Yeah, there are quite a few earthquakes today, but most are not that strong. The strongest I could find was only a 4.5. Earthquakes of that strength happen all the time.

The site of usgs, something happened, the system is down or something, computer glitch. If it was true, we would know by now. C. As for the other site not much, to say about it. Weird, but no bad news. C.

Hey guys... If you want to check out a really cool world wide site check out Live Internet Seismic Server. (http://aslwww.cr.usgs.gov/Seismic_Data/heli2.shtml) I have been watching this site for years and almost every day there is something interesting to check out.

Here is a blurb from their site:

The GSN is an invaluable tool for research on global earthquake hazards, earthquake mechanisms and the geologic processes that cause earthquakes, and on the internal structure, composition, and dynamic processes of the Earth. Seismic waves, recorded after they have traveled thousands of miles through the Earth's interior, bear significant information about the tectonic plates and the mantle and core that underlie them. Researchers use GSN data extensively to construct and revise three-dimensional models of the Earth's interior. These models, in turn, are used to accurately locate earthquakes and large explosions. It is setup to monitor how the seismic waves travel through the Earth and how an event will effect the rest of the globe. Todays graph obviously shows the activity surounding the quakes from the Java area. Pretty cool to see how the waves travel through the earths core. If you can break out the individual maps you can see how long it tooktto travel from place to place.

Also here is the link (http://wwwneic.cr.usgs.gov/neis/fact_sheet/FS-103-97/FS-103-97.html) to their FAQ type page.

Here is another good link to relativley real time earthquakes.

Raptor Witness, why is what I posted so funny?

Most of the earthquakes on the map we in the 2.0-4.5 range.

2.0-2.9, 1,000 per day.
3.0-3.9, 49,000 per year (~134 per day)
4.0-4.9, 6,200 per year (~17 per day)

Those numbers are taken from the wikipedia article on the Richter magnitude scale. As you can see, earthquakes of those magnitudes are common and happen all the time. None of the earthquakes on the map Protostar linked to were higher then a 5.9. So what is so funny?

You are thinking of earthquake "swarms" yes they are very usual, this however, is not. Too vast of an area. Too many countries. Swarms don't go that far, they usually stick around the "hot spot"
Also, smaller earthquake's are more dangerous because they are building up stress especially on the faultlines. As far as Wikipedia goes, you can't trust any info from that site since it was hacked into and info changed in 2004.

Last I checked, Wikipedia was pretty legit, so I have no idea what in the Hell you're talking about. I'm sure that they've fixed whatever damage from two years ago.

No, I'm not. I posted the amount of earthquakes that occur per day, on average, all around the Earth. This is no swarm. It is twenty-odd earthquakes spread around the globe. I assure you, that happens everyday.

Above average numbers of smaller earthquakes near a fault zone might be a sign of stress on a fault line, but tiny earthquakes. Microquakes are happening all the time. Even here in Oklahoma, where a 2.4 earthquake made the news a couple years ago cause 6 people felt it, they happen daily.

Yes, Wikipedia gets vandalized a lot. Any site that allows anyone to edit will. But, they have a good track record of fixing things quickly, and we are talking a scale of minutes, not days or hours. I've used the site for years and have probably read hundreds of articles and I have found one factual mistake. Not bad. Plus, you don't have to "hack" Wikipedia to change something.

Here (http://www.ceri.memphis.edu/public/follies.shtml/) is another link with numbers on the amount of earthquakes that occur every year of every magnitude since you don't trust wikipedia. The numbers, however, are almost identical.

Sammy, I don't care about statistics. The point of the post is that there were so many earthquakes in diverse places at one time. I'm not gonna argue w/ you.
My point has been and always will be the fact that you will not get straight forward information anywhere on the net or in main stream news with out really digging deep. Case in point http://www.newswithviews.com/Stubbs/rodney13.htm
You NEVER heard about this.
You never heard about the fact that the doctor in nYc who blew up his building was kissinger's doctor and kissinger was on the way to talk to him but was held up by media and never "got there" and lots more....
my point is, without really digging deep, you only get the glossed over version.
As far as those earthquakes are concerned, its the area and depth that counts.
I don't try to show off or anything other than bring the news to my favorite website or contribute what I can to everyone. I appreciate all comments and
I try like a fiend to get links. sometimes though, links disappear for obvious reasons like when the "dart" blew up and the russian satellite "went away" but I am always searching for something and I get news as it comes across the wire.
I don't mean to disturb anyone, just inform em...

Here is another good site for daily view of earthquake activity.
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.php
You are so right Sammy. Today so far there has been 25 quakes that measured 2.5 or greater.
Yesterday there were 30. The day before there were 16. On the smaller scale, just look at the webicorders on a daily basis. There are hundreds of quakes daily.

WOW

Indonesia may get wiped out...no after shocks, just one-a-day would do it.
It may be loosening up for a big one after all the small ones.

Indonesia the next Atlantis (?)

You know, this lack of media coverage thing is interesting. That would be a good thread Pro.

With respect to the earthquakes, which neither of the children here have ever experienced, I bet, it's going to take DAMAGE to get the world's attention Pro. It's coming. The U.S. is being protected for now, and there's a reason for this. God intends to make a demonstration of power, similar to what occurred before Katrina, only louder. This time, the faces of the media will turn white with fear, because of how accurate the prediction will be. The earthquake(s) will be sent as a plague, is why. It's time for the Harlot to feel some pain, but more important, it's time the Church of God in the U.S. to understand who the Harlot is. Right now they're clueless and God intends to change that.

"Psychic Kid" and "Sammy" - since you boys are so smart, why don't you enter the [contest] (http://forums.armageddononline.org/showthread.php?t=7134) I've arranged. You want some respect here, show your abilities. Right now, all you're good at doing is encouraging threads that don't make any sense to start with.

Because the contest you have arranged has nothing to do with being smart. I'm good at science, not predicting the future. When Protostar started a thread, I answered using scientific knowledge. It doesn't matter whether you think this thread should exist or not. Protostar, I, and others were talking about earthquakes. You are the one who interrupts threads to constantly tell us all how American is evil. And your reasons for laughing at my post still aren't very apparent.

Ah Miss Sammy... I think this is just a case of the POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK. I have always enjoyed your posts and in no way think that are "encouraging threads that don't make any sense to start with". Just keep in mind there is always the ignore feature. Remember PsychicKid comment as that is a view shared by several. Your post and subsequent posts in this thread have been interesting and informative. Keep up the good work.

Dude, what the Hell does this have to do with anything? This just further proves my point that your posts make zero sense at all.

All you do is post about how evil America is and how everyone is being decieved and God will kill us all.

Really now, predicting a bunch of bullshit has nothing to do with being smart, nor will it earn "respect" or show our "abilities." You fail.
