I was looking up that draft resolution - the Lebanese PM has also rejected it and for good reason. It allows Israeli troops to remain in southern Lebanon and mandates that Israel can continue "defensive operations." Well, I think we can understand why it was rejected.
On a related and alarming note, Russia is in the process of strengthening its military base in Tartus, Syria, some 30 km from the Lebanon border. It is sending over weapons, troops, planes and rubles from what I've read.
Very recently, the US announced sanctions against Russia for selling military equipment to Iran. Predictably, the Russians are not pleased and now Russia has levied heavy back taxes against a few international oil companies that have joint interests in Russia - Chevron and BP are two.
Things are just becoming more hostile and complicated every day.

russia dosent worry me other than the fact that they still have an arsenal of cold war nukes laying around.they couldnt finance a long term war against israel,or the u.s.they could however supply tons of arms and munitions, which, syria, hamas, iran and hezbollah need desperately to continue thier anti-semetic/anti-U.S. agendas against israel and the united states (eventually.)
intesting thought.the axis being russia ,iraq, iran, afghanistan, syria,n.korea, hezbolla, hama s,and alqueda(with the possibility of jordan and egypt joining in)
and the allies being the U.S. england, israel,
should be interesting.

Russia only has a small loan off a few $bn (http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc/2004-11/18/content_392802.htm)
President Vladimir Putin told the chief of the International Monetary Fund on Thursday that Russia may pay off portions of its international debt earlier than initially planned, Russia news agencies reported.
Russia "has the possibility to settle its debt before the IMF and the Paris Club ahead of schedule," ITAR-Tass and Interfax quoted Putin as saying at a meeting with IMF managing director Rodrigo Rato.
Under the current repayment schedule, Russia is to fully repay its debt to the IMF by 2008, but officials have said it may make the payments by 2006. Taking into account the $1.7 billion US that Russia plans to pay this year, it is to owe the IMF about $2.7 billion as of Jan. 1, ITAR-Tass reported.
USA wants to drag Iran into a war to protext it's petrodollars but both russia and china my come to Irans aid.
The new world order GW-Bush wanted may not be the one he gets.
