Theory that U.S. orchestrated Sept. 11 attacks 'not absurd': Venezuela
http://www.breitbart.com/news/na/cp_p091208A.xml.html

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - President Hugo Chavez said Tuesday that it's at least plausible that the U.S. government was involved in the Sept. 11 attacks.

Chavez did not specifically accuse the U.S. government of having a hand in the Sept. 11 attacks, but rather suggested that theories of U.S. involvement bear examination.

The Venezuelan leader, an outspoken critic of U.S. President George W. Bush, was reacting to a television report investigating a theory that the Twin Towers were brought down with explosives after hijacked airplanes crashed into them in 2001.

"The hypothesis is not absurd . . . that those towers could have been dynamited," Chavez said in a speech to supporters. "A building never collapses like that, unless it's with an implosion."

"The hypothesis that is gaining strength . . . is that it was the same U.S. imperial power that planned and carried out this terrible terrorist attack or act against its own people and against citizens of all over the world," Chavez said.

"Why? To justify the aggressions that immediately were unleashed on Afghanistan, on Iraq."

Chavez has said the U.S. launched those wars to ensure its political and economic power.

The U.S. government says al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden masterminded the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

"A plane supposedly crashed into the Pentagon, but no one ever found a single remnant of that plane," Chavez said, citing a television program he had seen on Venezuela's state television.

Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro raised the same theories in an earlier speech Tuesday, and called for an independent investigation.

"It's really worrisome to think that all of that could have been a great conspiracy against humanity," Maduro said. "An independent international investigation must be carried out one day to discover the truth about the events of Sept. 11."

Does it shock anyone Chavez would say this? The guy is a nutjob. Anyone who is buddy-buddy with Fidel Castro, the Pres of Iran, and Robert Mugabe has a few screws loose.

No surprise at all. Chavez is not only anti-Bush; he is openly anti-US in general.

I don't argue Bush isn't, but Hugo is pretty batshit insane. He is friends with Castro, Mugabe, the president of Iran... He also tells everyone that the US is planning to invade them, but that ain't gonna happen. He is the left equivalent of GWB, only with more communist dictator friends.

Hugo Chávez is screwing up Venezuela, yet I can't say he's wrong. He's not a terrorist nor a fascist, come on. I'm beginning think that you north-americans call everyone non-yankee and non-capitalist "terrorist".

Well, even though I'm not American and think Chavez is a complete nut, I have to agree with Bush being some sort of devil. His actions are just criminal. For example, he goes to war like a psycho with no proof and thousands of civilians are losing their lives on both sides. Do you think that takes some of his sleep? Not at all. He probably sleeps like a baby with that sick conscience. He is incompetent and not fit to be president. I also agree that he should face an international court. Of course, it's only a dream like many others.

And now he is trying to tell lawmakers how to interpret the Geneva convention.

We have a world wide convention or we don’t it’s as simple as that.

Mad man Bush wants to pick up where Clinton and “That Woman” left off and go all the way till he feels the ground tremble under his feet, yes this is the orgasm he is looking for.

I'ts impossible to say who's a nut and who's not, because all we have to go by is what the media dribbles our way. You think we know the whole story about anything? NO WAY. First of all, some stuff will forever be kept secret for national security reasons. Secondly, the media avoids news related to religion, race, or sexuality like tha friggen plague.
So....we get censored news. Not so unlike communist countries that we think are so worse off than us Americans huh?

Also, keep in mind, 9-11 wasn't the first attack. They had already tried bombing the trade centers before, the USS Cole, and countless Embassies. I think that Clinton was just trying to pass this problem off to his successor while he boinked Monica and avoided Hitlary, I mean Hillary. :bondage:

Wastelandwarrior, Nice post. The reality is that the american way is too wasteful and too destructive. You can get this standard of living without all the pollution if we change to an all non profit world governing system. The US has all the inventions we need to resolve every problem peacefully and yet it continues to rule by force. What we cannot allow is for other countries to do as we do and since they follow us all we have to do is change and they will follow.

Chavez criticizes the US waste of energy and Ahmadinejad wants to rid the world of WMD's. Its a good thing some leaders are courageous enough to try and stop the system that is doing so much harm to this planet.

Clinton and Bush want to encourage small business and middlemen which is the most wasteful way you could choose as an operating system.

I wouldn't say that Chavez is a nutjob, but even so, he is DEFINITELY anti-Bush and anti-US, so his comments are NOT all that unexpected.
