View Full Version : I think I may have a ghost in my house

many years ago i’ve come across strange happenings in a house I brought where the guy that owned the house before me had topped himself in garage. I knew this before I brought the house but i still went ahead and managed to get along no trouble

This time it’s in a house I’ve lived in for several years and it’s only just started with things like doors are being left open and things are being moved on a regular basis and quite deliberately, not by accident as seemed to happen in the past.

I think it’s the old woman the lived in the house for the last 40 years before I purchased the house and I’m guessing that she has recently died but don’t know for sure and I would not ask her family about it as it may upset them.

I’m not scared and see it as my home and not hers so she will have to move on some time or another but my girlfriend has not seen this sort of thing before and it’s freaking her out.

If she stays around then I’m going to paint the place pink, blue and green so she gets the message but I don’t want to go that far unless I must but I do want her out as this is not the type of ghost I can get along with.

what should i do

Try to get some proof. Point cameras toward the stuff that seems to move, and see what happens. It could be an ghost. But it could also be an rat pushing doors open, Or an roommate moving things around without telling you. Its also an good idea to gather witnesses and keep an dairy on these things.
If you got your evidence, go to an professional investigator. And see what they say of it. If they think its worth investigating, Let them do so, they might find the cause of it.
After ruling out any down to earth explanation, Try to get someone to clean the house, this could be an priest, or an medium.

If this doesn't help. I gues its best for your girlfriend to get used to your new roommate, This kind of activity probaly wont last forever.

I have experienced an haunting for several years. It suddenly turned to full power, and then suddenly stopped. So i know how it feels.

Lycanox is entirly right- 9/10 the spook disappears after a matter of years. I dont believ rligion is the answer, but I do believe that tangable obects( i,e: color/materials) as lycanox said, can make a sausage turn to stone in some cases, so, If she's really that freaked out, paint the room or get that investigator in or even have a seance! The roofs the limit with hauntings, so u wanna get them away as fast as poss if their scaring someone. It can cause permanent fears.

Actually, to be honest, I think the idea of ghosts are cool.

But my meta-hypothesis of ghosts rest on the assumption that information is eternal, and that ghosts are nothing but left over info from the universe. Sort of like left over memories- they aren't conscious AT ALL, but they behave as if they are; like remnants of you left over after you die...

Of course, I don't actually believe that, but it's still cool.

My older brother, on the other hand, is convinced that he saw a demon when he was young. It was floating off the floor, and was covered in a blue haze. It was wearing a long robe, with a hood covering its head, and its face looked like that of a rotted corpse. He could see the lines of it's teeth through it's nearly non-existant lips; the side of it's mouth/cheek was torn open and he could see it's jaw. It's flesh was melting off of its face and into the blue glow. My brother claims that he watched it float to my parents room. My brother started screaming and woke up my parents; and he claims that when my dad came out of his room, screaming f-words like crazy, the demon was sort of resting on him- the demon's face was on top of my dad's, looking at my brother.

Now, I think it's just a hallucination, but to my brother's credit, my dad actually did go insane and ended up in prison for some pretty fucked up psychotic shit...who knows... maybe he was possessed?

When I was young, I used to hear strange noises coming from the attic. Mostly stuff moved around, knockings and the giggling of an girl. These mostly ended when i moved to an different room away from the attic, Only the knocking sounds continued, much louder and mostly coming from the wall directly above my head.

This continued for several years, until it starting to do much more. The knockings intensified. One night I opened the storage room, and saw suddenly an siluet of an large man standing in the room. I didnt know how fast to close the door and run of. after that several strange symbols appeared on an damped mirror, like someone tried to write on the condense. The television set started to turn on or off on the strangest times. And whole streets went dark after all of the streetlights turned off while I drive through the street.

One day i watched TV until I felt the sudden urge to watch towards the door in my room. Suddenly a small girl ran straight through it and disappeared.

After that all the strange stuff ended.
I would lie if I told you i was never afraid. But the ghost never seemed dangerous or angry. so i just grown used to them, until they suddenly acted up that is.

They never gave the impression they were an bad thing. I was more interested in them than afraid. And they are gone now so there is no need to move. I usually stay silent about this. But if i tell the story, its always in an crowd that are open about these things. Unfortunately my parents and most of my friends aren't.

Well thanks you guys.

Reading the post from those that don’t pretend to know it all was helpful and I think it’s best to be a sceptic else all the stuff running around will send ya mad.

Things have gone quite for the past few days after we decided that we would paint the place if she continued so we will see.

Maybe having a well behaved ghost will turn out to be an asset as they/it may keep other things away so I’m all for giving em an education if needed.
