Im a huge Beetles fan.My mom turned me on to them when i was a kid.At the library they were doing a showing of "The yellow submarine."So my mom took me and i loved it.I love all of the early music from the 50's but i really loved the Psycadelic stuff like Magical Mystery tour, and Sgt. peppers lonely haerts club band.
To pick a favorite song, man thats tough.Within you without you, strawberry fields,Lucy in the sky with diamonds, theres just to many to list.

......Always know sometimes, think its me,but you know I know when it's a dream........

.......woke up,got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head.............

......Roll up....roll up for the mystery tour....roll up....roll up for the mystery tour....The magical mystery tour is coming to take you away, coming to take you away...take you away........................

the beauty of it is listening to those tunes, you can always find somthing new you hadnt noticed before.Thats what amazed me about the Beetles. It amazes me that Sgt. peppers was all recorded on a 4 track recorder.I learned alot about recording by studying their music.Squeezing 7 tracks out of a four track by ping ponging tracks or bouncing them, recording the music on one side, flip the reel over, and do the guitar solo, then flip the reel back right again so the rythym is forwards but the guitar solo is backwards, bending the tape on the reel slightly as its recording to get a flange effect, you name it they did it first. They were a huge inspiration for me as far as recording and making music goes.By the end of it,i knew more about the beetles than my parents did.Like the time bob dylan got the beetles stoned for the first time,or how they dosed on l.s.d. from a tainted jar of cake frosting ect.
They pushed the boundries of modern music, and will always be in my opinion one of the greatest bands of all times.

The Beatles should not only be remembered for their cleverly recorded albums - the credits for that should go to George Martin, their producer.

Apart from that - Sgt. Pepper was definitely NOT the first album that made use of those tricks.

IMO the Beatles were probably the very best amateur composers of their times. They did not have any musical education, but were capable of writing very elaborate compositions, all from a more or less organic approach. The Long and Winding Road is such a song, but the White Album contains lots of great compositional material... Blackbird, for instance. What a song!!
