I had people online and in-person telling me to disable JAVA today, because 'something' was gonna happen. I went to Mozilla plug-ins to disable it, but Mozilla already did it for me. So it's 17:OO Eastern, and nothing's happening. Me no savvy...

Hi, bought a laptop for my wife, an Acer Aspire V3-571 ( so called Olympic edition, silver) anyway the specs claim bluetooth but when you hit the icon it won't load. Checked the programs/drivers (atheros ) installation, seems to be OK. I have heard some previous models had issues with this. Anyone know?

I just got my computer back last week ..it crashed and had to be completely reformatted, lost all my bookmarks and some stuff I had written and not saved to a disc or anything, which was a bummer, and when I reinstalled some stuff, I got this 'incredibar' thing that I cannot get rid of. I already got rid of the 'toolbar' app on removing programs but now whenever I read a lot of stuff, sometimes a few words will be underlined and when I cursor by then there will be a popup ad attached to it..how do I get rid of this and stop it from doing it? I don't know where to go to remove that since I thought I removed the toolbar but it's still doing that highly annoying underline thing. Any help appreciated.

Well, I am in the process of updating my PC... did not really need to, but decided to make it where I could play some games a bit better on it if I so choose. I went in March with a store bought desktop (should have built my own, but I was lazy and wanted instant gratification). I have an HP P6720F, which works well enough for internet usage, but sucks for gaming. It has 6 GB PC3-10600 RAM, so I have ordered 4 4GB sticks of the same type to replace the 3 sticks present. If 16 GB RAM won't get it done, then nothing will. I am running Windows 7 64 bit, and the on board graphics sucked. I went a bit cheap on this upgrade, but found a ZOTAC GeForce 9500GT video card with 1GB DDR2 memory for only $25 after a mail in rebate. I then ordered a blu ray drive so I can play the movies I already own. The video card is installed and works great. The RAM and blu ray player are in the mail. Anything else I should consider? I should add I am deaf in an ear, so adding high end sound does not benefit me at all,...

I need a hero, I have really two problems , the main one is I was writing in words perfect, and today I turned on my computer to find the last months work gone. I think avg might have got it as my recent downloads were empty.. I lost about twenty pages I'm very broken hearted as that was a lot of work. If anyone can help I will be very grateful. the second one is a rootkit virus I used avg and I think it got the virus but mt computer still isnt working as fast or good as it should not to mention it ate my book. Anyone know the origin of that program?

I'm on safety mode right now with network. Why? I turn PC on and... it loads, loads, loads, shows the Windows color symbol, but when it should go to the screen that lets you select Admin or User Name, it doesn't load. Just blank black screen. Any ideas? I tried using the switch in the back after turning it off, leaving it off for a few seconds, and turning it back to on before hitting power button. Thinking maybe a reset to earlier date? Only thing I can think of is the power went out for a few seconds earlier this morning when my mom went to do laundry and it overloaded what ever circuit. I guess both A/C and Laundry don't get along. But my PC was off at the time.(I was sleeping and only learned of power going out when I saw my clock blinking) Ok, the recovery/system restore didn't work.

I figured this would have as good a shot here as anyplace else. Do any of you tech guys know where you can buy a micro sdhc extension cable in the US? I am working on a flash-able tablet mod. I have used these before, usually pirated off of a wrecked car at an insurance lot. They us them on in dash GPS to place the memory slot in a driver friendly place. The problem with China and Japan suppliers is they require 100 or 1000 minimum pieces in an order.

I can't quite catch the Avast! window to take a screenshot, but I will... anyway that makes 3 times today that, logged onto AO and viewing a thread, I get a "malicious code!" warning from Vast! and they tell me, they blocked it. an IP address shows, starts with 68, but like I said... I need to set the window to appear a little longer so I can screenshot it, I can't find a record of it in the notes. Any ideas?

Has anybody heard of this "Vista Antivirus 2012" program before? I didn't know about it, or that it was on my computer until it completely hijacked my computer and refused to let anything else really work. I have a few months left on my McAffee subscription (I've always thought McAffee was a great antivirus/firewall program), so when this other Vista AntiV program started bombarding me with Virus Infection warnings I was really confused. This program blocked all internet access (except for my Gmail for some strange reason) and all options and "scan now" buttons redirected to a screen trying to get me to buy a subscription to this program. I figured it was a virus of sorts, so I ran some big-ass scans with McAffee, hours later not a single report of a Virus came back, so I was confused as hell... Contemplating reformating my computer, I finally desided to look for contact info or something for this Vista Shit Program. The email to the company and their response to me is as follows:

Laz, I prematurely deleted and created a new partition on a secondary drive... I am wondering if there is a way to get the partition or the data back... I have my dragon age saved games in there and I DONT want to start all over...

I have AVG but it won't run anymore, yet I cannot delete it either from add/remove programs nor can I delete the file in the programs folder. When I try to use add/remove programs it tells me there is no such program even though it is listed. When I try to delete it from the program file folders it just says, no, can't do it. When I check Windows security, it says my virus protection is AVG and it is running well with no problems. But it isn't in the list of programs or apps running and I never get the Update thing. I tried downloading it again thinking sometimes when you do that with a program, it will tell you you already have that program, do you need to repair? But no, during the download it just hangs up about 1/3 of the way and never gets past that. I want to delete it entirely, so I can download it again and have it work.
