  1. Poll Sticky Thread Sticky: Poll: Abortion

I'm just wondering how everybody feels about abortion. Me, I think abortion is wrong. I watched an ultrasound of an abortion, and it was just terrible. It seemed like the baby was trying to get away and the baby's heartrate doubled. I'm not going to stone somebody for getting an abortion because I realise that it's a hard decision to make. I just don't think its the right decision to make. But hey, I'm not the one who's pregnant I guess. Although, I think the father should have some sort of say in it. The child is a part of him too.

  1. Life finds a way

Sometimes when its early morning I set on the front step looking at the garden, its spring and everything is in bloom, and I marvel at the thrust of life that comes from the earth. Small flowers that push their way up, fighting for space with the other fauna thats sharing the same small patch of soil. The grass making its way up between the cracks in the concrete walkway against all odds, even moving the heavy blocks to reach the sunlight. In those quiet early morning hours, one tends to wax philosophic, I guess you can't help not doing so when all this life becomes apparent, and you take the time to really see it. It makes me wonder if this life has to come forth, or if it simply wants to do so, its been buried under snow, exposed to extreme cold, yet it explodes into color as if its always looked that way, one can find a rose growing in the gutter along the road side, no soil to speak of, just some small crack in the asphalt, or a small tree anchored in the rock, its roots exposed, and no soil to...

  3. Shorten the leash

So now the leash gets drawn in a bit further with the ability of government agencies to take control of private communications, and one would have to wonder just how the government really views its citizens in the face of such actions. While we maintain the military muscle abroad chasing phantom threats in the desert, it would appear the foundations are being poured on the home front for another enemy. And I suppose the need for hollow point ballistics (maximum body damage) within the Federal agencies will go unquestioned by the majority, knowing even NATO has better taste by using a jacketed round. As this nation faces more situations that are deemed a threat, the population crawls deeper into an armed camp mentality, we believe the news, whether real or imagined, and everything becomes suspect, and perhaps the government moves in the same direction in regards to its own citizenry. And on a national scale this is left entirely to the current needs of government. If the agenda is to gain approval...

  4. The end of the world escapism

With all the projected prophecies that have made headlines over the years from various sects and religions, one can't help but wonder if a need for an end has become a psychological escape for those who can't or won't fit into a society. Granted, people are fascinated by a doomsday scenario, even so called healthy mentalities find themselves memorized by a Hollywood rendition of the end of the world. But something of a phenomena exists with those who actually want a destructive apocalypses to take place, and this includes relatively sane people, not just the maladjusted living in some dark basement hammering out page after page of dire warnings. What moves people to embrace the possibility of destruction? this abandoning of life's strongest motive, that of survival. Some would suggest an age of material indulgence using the old adage of the idle rich who have lost all imagination or curiosity, something like a small child who has every toy under the sun, yet is completely dissatisfied. Perhaps the...

  5. Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment

The link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues. The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature. Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment. Subject : In a fast society slow emotions become extinct. Subject : A thinking mind cannot feel. Subject : Scientific/ Industrial/ Financial thinking destroys the planet. Subject : Environment can never be saved as long as cities exist.

  6. Poll Poll: Would You Kill Yourself or Ten Others?

The reason for this poll is that I recently realised I would happily allow ten people to die to save me from suffering. I do not feel easy about it because I used to think I was a soulfull dogooder. I was wrong. I aay ten people because that is the guesstimate that my brain reaches when I think of how many will die through wars, famine, disease ect for my benefit. I get the fuel, food and relative security. Our Doctors, and through them, we, benefit from the experiments done on the North Koreans. We pay Kim Jung Il in food. Where profits go after sale is rarely the concern of the buyer. Then there are the appalling Chinease work conditions for our ease and convenience. All of thoses things we took from Africa to make us look pretty too.

I value kindness more I think, because I am more kind than beautifull! I make an efort to look presentable when I go out but more of an effort to be nice to everyone, especially if they are less than kind to me. Where do you stand on this?

  8. What Is An Alpha Female?

We have spent quite a bit of time on Cart's thread discussing what an alpha male is. I was just wondering what you thoughts were on alpha females. Are they the ones with exceptional looks or the ones that have the best childbearing looks? Up here we have a saying that a woman should be a mother in the kitchen, pious in church and a whore in the bedroom.

  9. Unhappy Children are Freezing in Norway

It's terrible to even have to think about children freezing to death in Norway. But it happens, is happening. There is a silver lining, at least, in knowing that human beings still care for one another. Some musicians and activists in Africa have gotten a campaign together to save the people of Norway from death by terrible, bitter cold. I hope you guys don't mind me posting this here, I just felt like you ought to know. :( RADI-AID- Africa for Norway DgnYFNpVwKE

  11. Poll Poll: The truth about female sexual behavior versus male sexual behavior

Some facts: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/3685314/Young-women-have-more-sexual-partners-than-men.html The usual stereotype is that men are horndogs who would do anything to screw almost any woman and sleep around all the time, while women are more "pure" and have to be convinced to have sex, because they are beyond the Neanderthal ways of men. Men sleep around, while women are much more chaste, or at least behave less like dogs. However, it is THAT VERY STEREOTYPE that has led to the OPPOSITE effect! Because women perceive that every man she sees is fucking every woman he can get his hands on, the perception is that if she sleeps with the loser at the club, well, she's still being relatively picky and still hasn't behaved like dirty men do. However, the sad fact is that, while it's true most men WOULD sleep with most women, they don't (because they fail). Only a few do. And the end result is that, on average, women sleep with more partners than men. If you ask a random...

  12. Step by Step

In little over one year an entire government and legal system had been manipulated to acquire a totalitarian regime. The country's debt and inflation was bringing unemployment to dangerous levels, it was argued that government should be centralized for the betterment of control of subversive elements, a scapegoat that the population needed had been found to justify the militarist actions within the population, and that scapegoat was dealt with for the security of the nation. What was left of the original democracy, was being decimated on a daily level, playing on the so called needs of the country, in the end the military assumed the role of policing the public, older court upheld rights had been removed to allow the arrests of any persons deemed dissident, and detained without trial, eventually executions were carried out for those deemed as a threat. The comparisons of 1934 Germany are without a doubt familiar, whether we like it or not, even the die hard faithful have to admit that those same...

  13. Nationalism

B10dhfReWoY Nationalism: Monkeys Meet Nukes It used to be, the world was confined to the monkeys in your tree, and the bad monkeys in the neighboring trees. Instinctive hatred and wariness of the foreign, bad monkeys was good. (In the eyes of Mother Nature.) It meant you could unify in your hostility, become stronger, and strangle the other monkeys and take all their bananas. It meant you could be on your guard against those who would take your own treasured tree. Usually you never had to face too many more monkeys than you could handle. And you never had the ability to destroy too many foreign monkeys. Nature approved and allowed you to evolve with these tribal instincts. But then something happened. Some of the monkeys started to move around the whole world. They decided they needed complex things, and they needed them from distant trees halfway around the world. Then they all became inter-connected, sociologically and politically on a scale never before seen. Then, something else happened. Some...

  14. Deaf twins who were going blind decide to get euthanized

http://news.yahoo.com/deaf-twins-going-blind-euthanized-165500992--abc-news-topstories.html What are your thoughts on this? They were both fully grown and of sound mind, and faced a fate of neither being able to hear nor see, a true life of darkness and loneliness. They chose to skip to the end rather than spend several decades completely alone and cutoff from each other and humanity as a whole, or so they felt about it. Did they morally have the right? Did the doctor have the right to aid them in their decision?

  16. Womens Rights

I was wondering what peoples ideas are on womens rights in the west. Have we already taken over from men in having the most rights? If you think about it, we are never expected to do the really dangerous jobs, we get most of the rights where children are concered and good alimony. We get the best seats on the bus, push men out of their jobs if we want to, or stay at home with them working for us if we want to. Then, when we are walking into their old office, expect them to hold the door open for us! Is this the refeminine era that the 'Golden Age is meant to bring, or we just a load of Eves enjoying the tasty apples? Do we have it better, or worse than men?

  17. Poll Poll: Would Ancient People consider the West of today close to a Utopia?

Just think about how easy life is compared to, say, ancient European farmers. Most people here in the west do jobs related to commerce. We might be sitting on a chair for a few hours a day crunching numbers, or we might be on our feet trying to impress customers, or we might be on the phone trying to convince someone to buy a product or invest in something. Most people in ancient times physically labored from sun up to sun down (and sure, there are some people who do today, but a much smaller number, and their work is significantly easier physically due to technological improvements). Most of us screw off with our smartphones while we're at work a great deal of the time, and we get mandated breaks/lunches. We are able to travel long distances in short amount of times, whether for business or pleasure, we get entertained when we get home by television, the internet, video games, or physical play, sex, etc (the OPTIONS are so much more). Women can give birth with significantly less pain if they so choose in...

  19. At the door

I guess this last year has been something of a wakeup call for any thinking individual, it doesn't take a Doctorate in political science to understand what has taken place in this country, and the manipulations by fear to turn an otherwise free thinking nation into an armed camp. Hardly a person on this site doesn't have in one sense or another the gut feeling of something coming, and if you've ever been to a slaughter house and watched how the animals are herded towards a single corridor and blindly follow each other out of fear, then you understand whats taken place. Outside of survival, one of the stronger instincts is to be independent, no one wants to blindly follow the crowd, in fact everything we do with our life style is based on some effort to stand out from the rest, to be different. But fear changes all this when it comes to being independent, we suddenly drop our smug attempts to stand out, and quietly get in line for the slaughter, and hardly say moo in the process.( albeit AO members...

  20. Nationalism-Colonialism-Imperialism

Nationalism-Colonialism-Imperialism. What defines these terms? and what countries would fall under those categories? America has been questioned this past 30 years as what its motives are regarding foreign war, by definition "The 2003 pre-emptive war in Iraq was unique in American military history. Described as bellicose but not militaristic, Americans were willing to fight if attacked "but not committed to the permanent celebration and projection of military power and values." (Lieven 2004). However, since the beginning of the Cold War, the United States appears to have been on a quest to spread democracy to all areas of the world. The belief that a democratic western form of government is superior could, in itself, be seen as a western form of colonialism or as Paris coins the phrase a "mission civilisatrice" (civilising mission). (Paris 2002) At this point one must consider whether the US is, in fact a colonist. Colonialism is considered to be "the extension of a nation's sovereignty over...
