  1. Poll Sticky Thread Sticky: Poll: Abortion

I'm just wondering how everybody feels about abortion. Me, I think abortion is wrong. I watched an ultrasound of an abortion, and it was just terrible. It seemed like the baby was trying to get away and the baby's heartrate doubled. I'm not going to stone somebody for getting an abortion because I realise that it's a hard decision to make. I just don't think its the right decision to make. But hey, I'm not the one who's pregnant I guess. Although, I think the father should have some sort of say in it. The child is a part of him too.

  1. Celebrity Charity

I decided to start a thread about this topic because I think it's important. http://www.smartmoneydaily.com/celeb-finance/celebrity-charity.aspx Excerpt from the article: "Sure, celebrities do their fair share of good things. They show-up at charity events and raise money. They give their money to worthy organizations around the world. But how much good are they really doing? More importantly, how much more could they be doing?" And this:

  2. Poll Poll: Why do we bother with courts/law and things like the ICC? (morals?)

I just watched a special about the ICC, the International Criminal Court. I knew about it before. But like anything else it pisses me off. As most of you know I believe in vigilantism, assuming you KNOW for a fact someone is guilty. This whole crap with these courts is a fucking waste of EVERYTHING. For instance they talked about Darfur and how they needed to arrest the president of the country...etc. Blah blah blah. Now what sounds more easy and logical to you?: A. Waste time (months even years), tons of money all while MORE people die trying to get this guy arrested. B. Hire someone(or some group of mercenaries, assassins, guerrillas...etc) to go in and fucking kill him?

  4. How Does One Become A Good Man Or Woman?

What do you think it takes? Right action? I say yes. My favorite movie quote: "Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What god desires is here and here and what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man - or not. "

  5. Stimulus for the PEOPLE

What does everyone think of this? He says some very interesting and note worthy things. Obama himself knows we're in a mess, so it seems, but apparently they aren't doing anything to fix it. McCain voted on the same stimulus package anyway. I feel like the past election was one of the saddest choices in history. PLEASE WATCH: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeYscnFpEyA

  7. why are we here? lol

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I just have to get it out.. (and I guess this is the best forum for it?) I feel like all my life I've always been different in the sense that I've always been breaking everything down on every level. I can never seem to stop pondering ..existence.. I guess is a good way to put it. Its as if I'm always trying to process the very fact that existence exists. This isn't just about god, but to cover that base I don't feel like I know jack shit about god and nobody does. If any of the religions that claim to know god were legit, the stuff happened so long ago how should I put faith into it when in this crazy world anyone is willing to tell you anything for their own end? I just go with what I feel I can trust which is what is around me. Existence, our consciousness, and just the amazing world of life we are in and the whole universe amazes me to the point where I think nobody could prove or disprove a god from being possible. If we actually came out of absolutly nowhere...

  9. Suicide. The Discussion/The Debate....

Ok I wanted to make this a topic instead of replying to it in the topic it was from. First the quote: Ok. Well most of you know my feeling on this. I think suicide is stupid when you do it because you put yourself in the situation, well more so an example being you screwed everyone out of something (lets say CEOs of recent) then you get caught and you blow your brains out to escape the responsibility. Thats the easy way out. Where as someone with a shitty life that can't get a break does it...thats diffrent. Now in response to that quote I have never understood that. Why do people think its selfish for someone to kill themselves? If your loved one lets say had their car blow up and lost both legs and an arm and was covered with 3rd degree burns and SOMEHOW was still alive. Would it be selfih of them to want to die still? To want to NOT want to feel anymore pain? I think not. I think its selfish of the loved ones to want the hurt one there for their OWN emotions. Who the one hurting more? You or...

  10. Anarchy, the next step in evolution

When anarchy is mentioned people think of violence and destruction. However, the term has been misinterpreted and misused to such an extent that even its definition has been modified. Anarchy comes from the greek : an + arkhos, without ruler. 1 , 2 It is not the same with anomie. Anomie is social instability caused by erosion of standards and values. 3 There is of course the aggressive component of anarchy. People who had enough from their repressive or negligent governments reject it violently from time to time. This is due to the failure of the government to maintain the state which is supposed to maintain.

  11. Birth Control

I mentioned in another thread that if I had a daughter of breeding age, that I would put her on birth control as I could not assume that she would abstain or announce to me that she was going to have sex and that I would not assume that a boy would have or even use a condom. In discussions with friends and family - this idea is quickly rejected as a licence to have sex. So which is worse? Sex, an unwanted baby or an abortion? Thoughts? **edit - sorry I was not asking which is worse among three things - only two (sex or baby/abortion)

  12. Lightbulb tales from the dishwasher

the act of washing dishes is attributed to being a medative activity which can lead to enlightenment(make light your burden)... today while i was washing dishes, i had a most stunning revelation and so i decided to start a thread for those of us who might on occasion have a mental orgasm while washing dishes... according to christianity(and more than likely most other propagated religions), man existed in a state of perfectness before "the fall", or an incident resulting in mans ability to discern between right and wrong, good and evil... at this point(an inflection mind you), man was punished and thrown out of paradise to till the ground and live and die thru sweat, blood, and toil. yet... in modern society, the books of law governing the nations of mankind, define the concept of "insanity" in defense, as lacking the ability to discern between what is right and what is wrong. so... hopefully this might set of a chain reaction in someones elses synapse's causing them to overload into a mental...

I just wanted to post this to determine some things about people. How do you feel when you watch this video, does it evoke strong emotion, or does it upset you? Do you enjoy the music, or dislike it? Do you see it as the truth, or a hoax? (You don't need to comment if you don't want, but if you feel comfortable stating your opinion, please do so.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-3RLx_4Y5Y

  14. When ALL Systems Fail

When government does nothing to stop this oppression, tragedy, and horror......and religion buys politicians to create laws to exempt them from being scrutinized.......what can the people do? It's time to make some changes. Aren't you angry yet? A fiercely debated, nine-year investigation into Ireland's Roman Catholic-run institutions says priests and nuns terrorized thousands of boys and girls in workhouse-style schools for decades - and government inspectors failed to stop the chronic beatings, rapes and humiliation.
