  1. F-22 Raptor

This is what our defense budget buys us. This is the coolest thing I have ever seen. I went to a blues festival in Daytona Beach this weekend and there was an Air Force air show going on at the same time. This thing was so loud and so fast and performed unbelievable manuevers. I could not even believe it. Check out this video that's on Youtube of the F-22 Raptor. OYDxj3-opNs

  2. Project Natal

Microsoft’s prototype system dubbed Project Natal is giving a whole new meaning to gaming: gaming with no controller at all. Your movements and voice control the game. The hardware component of the Natal system includes a color video camera, an infrared emitter and sensor that give it depth perception, a mic that figures out where you are, and a microprocessor to crunch all that data. The software component digests data in real time from 48 points on the body, plus audio input and delivers perfectly smooth game control. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oACt9R9z37U&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie02k3eAvxY&feature=related What do you guys think of this wonderful piece of ingenius technology???

  3. A Quantum Leap

A Quantum Leap. A new photonic chip that works on light rather than electricity has been built by an international research team, paving the way for the production of ultra-fast quantum computers with capabilities far beyond today’s devices. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/8c0a68b0-c1bc-11df-9d90-00144feab49a.html How much closer are we to.....The Terminator. Crap I can't find that story about programming computers that can hind from people in order to survive on their own.

  4. Flip video camera

Ok just wondering if anyone else has one and if you have had problems. I got mine on August 7th and I plugged it into the USB port of my laptop and the software loaded right away. Any video I took was transfered to my laptop and I was able to do the Flip share thing. Suddenly today I went to pull videos off of it and on to my laptop and my laptop is not recognizing the Flip. I've tried various USB ports and its not working. The video camera is still working fine though as I just took a new vid last night and it's on the camera still. Anyone? Anyone?

  6. oil recovery technology

Ultra Green Chairman Anthony Blakey on how his membrane technology can soak up 25,000 gallons of oil per day with a single ship. http://news.yahoo.com/video/business-15749628/new-way-to-absorb-oil-in-gulf-20458324 50 gallon barrels right? Then it's 500 hundred barrels times 150 ships. That is 75,000 barrels per day. That is pretty much what is flowing out of the hole. Not bad. And it will belong to someone other than BP. No wonder BP was not being helpful. Bastards. My question. Is recovered oil from a spill into seawater a viable commodity? Can it be processed like any other crude? If so this guy just struck it rich in his harvest method.

  8. Man accused of disabling 100 cars over Internet

I thought this was funny and unnerving at the same time.... what's your opinion?? Texan fired from dealership remotely set off car horns at old workplace DALLAS - A man fired from a Texas auto dealership used an Internet service to remotely disable ignitions and set off car horns of more than 100 vehicles sold at his old workplace, police said Wednesday. Austin police arrested Omar Ramos-Lopez, 20, on Wednesday, charging him with felony breach of computer security. Ramos-Lopez used a former colleague's password to deactivate starters and set off car horns, police said. Several car owners said they had to call tow trucks and were left stranded at work or home.

  9. There should be a conspiracy war on:

There should be a conspiracy war on: PHONE NUMBERS, PHONE LINES, TELEPHONES, AND CELL PHONES! WI-FI should substitute phone lines. And it should be of strong signal, and be free in all areas. It's 2010. E-mail should substitute phones. You should be able to send your voice through your computer since it's 2010 and it is certain voice chat programs out. E-mail addresses should substitute phone numbers.

  10. YouTube and Blu-ray Are Going 3D on the PlayStation 3

According to a presentation made by European Sony executive Mike Hawking, 3D Blu-ray support will be added to the PlayStation 3 in a firmware upgrade this September, and support for 3D YouTube will come within the next 12 months. You’ll eventually be able to use the console to show off photos taken with 3D cameras, too. CVG quoted Hawking saying that the PS3 already has all the hardware it needs to handle 3D games and videos thanks to its compatibility with the HDMI 1.4 connection. The console can detect the size and 3D hardware in any TV it’s connected to, so it can be adapted to support most new 3D technologies with simple software or firmware updates. Rival Microsoft hasn’t announced any plans to go 3D with the rival Xbox 360 console, but the hand-held Nintendo 3DS has a screen that shows 3D images without requiring the player to wear special glasses. Market researchers believe that plenty of 3D TVs will show up in consumers’ living rooms over the next few years, so Sony might be making a smart...

  14. Building a Star on Earth

Can world's largest laser zap Earth's energy woes? Scientists at a government lab here are trying to use the world's largest laser -- it's the size of three football fields -- to set off a nuclear reaction so intense that it will make a star bloom on the surface of the Earth. This almost reminds me of what they are trying to do at the LHC in Geneva, but completely ass backwards... Story continues at CNN.com...comments? http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/science/04/28/laser.fusion.nif/index.html

  15. Cool WWW CPU Brain

I believe - after years of interest and learning in the subject - that it is possible to write software using simulated neural brain structures on high specification hardware - that is self-aware. So with this admission, how can I proceed? My best current estimate is that each "brain" - with interacting connectivity via the world web web - would require around about 500 gigabytes. That's my current estimate at least. I wonder what could be charged for such self-aware computers (since for best performance the hardware architecture may even need to be significantly altered from current PC or other computer design). But it would need to start maybe with a central mainframe ? - that would be origin point for possibilities of virtual realities or other virtual universes for the internet-homed entities to interact. I have many papers - even those I drew up when I was 13 and had some machine code published in 'The Electron User' magazine. But I would need to write a hell of a lot more to complete...

  16. Man's greatest achievements: geometry and Newton's laws

From the earliest times there has been discovery that has advanced mankind's knowledge and his ability to progress. I would suggest that geometry (that dates back to 3000 B.C., in its earliest form and Euclid (c. 325-265 BC) that led to parceling of land, design of machine, and mastering navigation) and Newton (1643-1727) who gave us the laws of force and motion, are the among the top contenders. Simple geometry (central angle is proportional to the subtended arc) solves the circumference of the earth and made accurate navigation possible james /

  17. 5 Reasons You Should Be Scared of Apple

http://www.cracked.com/article_18377_5-reasons-you-should-be-scared-apple_p2.html I LOVED the part under #1 where Apple wants it so if you own say, a Mac, or an Ipod, that an Ad will pop up and if you don't click on it your whole system locks down. Also, the part where they tortured some one until he committed suicide, yeah, that was crazy.

  19. Recommended Firearms for the tough times ahead

Hopefully the Obama administration won't resort to firearm confiscation. With firearms being a hot commodity now, I will give my advice on what to buy and hope others will add. I am not saying what I own, just what I have experiance with. If you do not have much $$$, buy a 12 guage shotgun. I can recommend Remington 870s, as they are simple pump actions. Get 12 guage shotguns only, as if it seems like it is too much, you can buy reduced recoil rounds. Get a birdshot barrel (it will probably come with this) and buy a seperate barrel for slugs. Be sue this has sights. Beyond this, look to weapons by the type of round they use. Handguns should be purchased in 9mm luger, 40S&W, or .45ACP. I am not a huge fan of the first or the last, and think the middle could be better, but you need to be able to feed the weapon when TSHTF. Beretta 92FS/M9 are good 9mm and parts abound. Glocks are also good, as well as Colt 1911s in .45. My favorite .40 is the H&K USP Compact. Colt 1911 parts are easy to get,...
