  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: What Book Are You Currently Reading?

Thought this might make an interesting thread - please try to keep it clean, though ;). I am reading Chasm City by Alastair Reynolds. I must admit, it is far better than I expected and I can't wait to read more of his stuff. So what are you guys reading?

  1. H.P Lovecraft anyone?

Sorry if this has been discussed lately, but cannot get enough of his stories, including the excellent Call of Cthulhu, and funnily enough, Herbert West - Reanimator for the sinister and twisted plot! What do you enjoy most about his stories? Structure, language or the mythos he has created with creates such as Cthulhu and Dagon? And finally, who here was fooled into thinking The Necronomicon was a real book he wrote? I threw a copy of the supposed Necronomicon across the room when I realised it was a hoax by clever people cashing in on the occult. No juicy stories of any Ancients lurked within :(

  4. call me The AUTHOR OF LEVERIAN LITERACY

https://sites.google.com/site/dedanoe/arabic_decade_digits the theoretical description is still in progress https://sites.google.com/site/dedanoe/arabic_decade_digits/opisot.pdf i am defining the elementary meaning of them letters (in the Cyrillic alphabet) so later on i can develop a method of evaluating the combined meaningful value of the whole word phrase or sentence as some form of integral meaning and create an automated/reflexive response. i do this in accordance with the lever law. reading stars (horoscope) comes to be the same as reading letters so, if the psychic wants to be paid by me for reading her letters then she also must pay me for reading my stars.

  5. Fan Fiction

Does any one on here read Fan Fiction? Fan Fiction are stories written by anyone but the original author. Harry Potter has a huge following, with one series recognized by JK Rowling. I've tried too write it but it is never very good. I am however a Muse for an FF writer who has written over a million words for just the Code Lyoko FF on a website. He also does Daria, HP, and Lazy Town. But of course some writers like Nora Roberts has asked people not too do it but others, like JK Rowling, encourages it.

  12. Thumbs up After The Fall Series

The After The Fall Series is a classic saga of survival—of the tenacity of the human spirit when all hope fails and the dark ravages of nuclear winter and social devolution seem to envelop the Earth. It is a story of ordinary people with extraordinary resolve, who, by their wills and wits alone, rise above the devastation to fashion a new world from the smoldering ashes of the old. Travel with our champions in this superbly crafted tale of adventure as they seek to establish a new life, refusing to relinquish their freedom or humanity amidst the unprecedented chaos and renaissance of the post-End War environment. Having survived the Great Purging and its aftermath, they cling to life, to one another, and to all that is cherished by the enlightened mind while navigating a gauntlet of conscienceless villains, hell bent on wreaking further havoc, motivated by a twisted desire to rule their fellows by force. While the brutal realities of a post apocalyptic future are not easily endured, this remains...

  13. Thumbs up Daemon and Freedom

Without a doubt, the two greatest novels I have ever read. Mind-blowingly good. Fantastic characters, astounding story, and incredible knowledge of technology. Seperate books, but parts one and two in a story of a technological revolution. Get Daemon and I guarentee you'll end up getting Freedom. Fantastic.

  14. The Alchemist

I seen this book in the supermarket about a week ago. I picked it up to see what it was about. It immediately reminded me of a woman friend of mine, with whom I had a falling out with little over a year ago. I bought it, and planned on reading it. I don't know how many days passed, but it wasn't many, I received an email from this woman. About a week earlier my email was hacked into and spam messages were sent out. One was sent to her, I didn't realize that she was in my contact list still. She replied to the email and we started talking again. I thought about how the book made me think of her, so I ordered a copy and sent it to her. I read the book today, and wow. If you truly desire something, the universe will conspire to make it happen.

  17. Writing a philosophy pamlet for the immoral and the immortal

In it, the first lines should read the KEY philosophy I am "the" honorable and magnificant author of. And it is: "The Art of War is The Reality of Murder, and The Art of Murder is The Reality of War." "The Art of Sleep is The Reality of Alternative, and The Art of Awake is The Reality of Reborn." Nice, hey?

  18. Deathlands: Post-Apocalypse Series

Am I seriously the only person on Armageddon Online who has read any of these books? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deathlands What more can you ask for besides post-nuclear-war life 100 years later in the barren wastelands of the remnant of a World Gone Mad? Sure, they're a good 25 years old, and unfortunately they missed the fact that the Soviet Union fell, but all out nuclear war is still a remote possibility, and the results could realistically devastate civilization. It's a possibility.

  19. Robert Jordan

I did a search for wheel of time and for robert jordan, and got no results, so im starting a thread to find out who the jordan fans are. personally i was sad and pissed when he died. i was ultimately relieved to know he left his wife authority to find a person to complete his lifes work. the final book is scheduled to release this fall. wheel of time spanning currently 12 books (0-11) roughly 800-1k pages each, makes for a nice pleasant read. such a discriptive person, jordan, to me, has always been able to paint such a great image in my mind with his words. I originally got into jordan because next to him my favorite author is robert e. howard (creator of conan) so naturally after reading every thing howard ever wrote, 5 times, i started reading jordans conan novels.

  20. English Literature

someone help me out with this please. Why is it, that we have english, reading, and communications shoved down our throats from 2nd grade until the end of our freshmen year in college? How much of the shit is enough? I know how to read, I know how to write (my college English teacher for English 102, recommended me for Journalism school, which I politely disregarded), I can enunciate, I speak very well, my handwriting is better than any girls writing could ever be. My cursive writing is almost as good. aside to that, who in their right mind, cares about English Literature? It's pure shit. It's boring, it's lifeless, meaningless shit. I like a good modern day fiction novel, Tom Clancy, Dean Koontz, John Grisham...but that old crap doesn't do a damn thing for me except help me to close my eyes. I like to read a good well thought out, well written newspaper article, but shit like the Scarlet Letter, and the Great Gatsby just plain sucks ass. It's even worse when you have it shoved down...
