Thinking of how well CP's poetry to me reflected my experiences and emotions evoked when on my solitary beach excursions- obviously CP must be an ocean-lover too. :-) Nobody else could understand, but another lover of the sea. I always try to journey on the Solstices and Equinoxes, and tend to write as I go along. Often later it reads disjointed (reading it in a different mindset from the mindset with which it was penned) but sometimes I can make sense of some of it with the waking brain. Basically carry on a deep love affair with the ocean. It's really silly, I know, but it is there and only there I feel wholly understood and accepted, and no other being on earth that can evoke within me fully the depths and heights of life. There really is no other lover on earth who I can relate to in such a full, all encompassing way. This is where I feel truly at home. I lay awake at night, contemplating the past, hoping to draw some form of sanity from this constant reminder of days gone by. One would prefer the noble gestures to define this image, but alas we are kept awake by those failures that haunt us. In our vanity we convince ourselves that we are good, yet our actions are written in history. Our only moment of true peace is when the tears drop to the floor, generated by that one cleansing second of remorse. The one redeeming factor that makes us human. We build our defense with our icons, those small items we surround ourselves with, treasured trinkets that line our bookshelves, the things our children throwout when we finally meet the grave. We understand that second of remorse, that tear that runs down our face when the truth is made conscious, blissful that no more effort is needed to hide the lie. Yet in the morning we return to the act of ignorance and self absorption, and await the next heartbreak. In our journey we meet kindred spirits...
