  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: AO Food and More

Cooking is definitely an art. I've seen people make the most beautiful cuisines that taste like cardboard. I've also seen dishes that look like afterbirth that tasted phenomenal. The point of eating is to feed yourself. Preparing an art-like meail requires time, experience and comfort. If you visit a restaurant and you are served food that looks unappealing, you'll be hesitant to eat it. Hell, you paid for the meal to be prepared and delivered, it shouldn't look like mud or as if a child threw it together. However, if you receive a less aesthetic plate from a friend, family member or spouse you're less likely to worry about the presentation. The reason why that is should be obvious. If it isn't, then don't worry yourself. Now that the introduction is done, I'll get right to the point. This thread's title is important. You don't need money or magic to turn crap into luxury when it comes to food. As a native Texan I've spent my entire life around the preparation and cooking of food. Keep your stereotypes...

  4. Poor Man's Pizza

Don't let the recipe fool you; I can cook. But sometimes you don't have time or energy to throw together a four course meal. That is when it's time to bring on the poor man's pizza. 1 slice bread Prego (or your favourite pasta sauce) shredded cheese Paint the pasta sauce onto the bread, sprinkle on the cheese and throw it into the toaster oven or ordinary oven until the cheese has melted. Feel free to zap it in the microwave if you don't have access to the other toasting options. Quick and delicious. Add your favourite meat or veggie for additional enjoyment.

  7. Wild Strawberry Tea

I've recently discovered and started making my own herbal tea from wild strawberry leaves. Those pesky weeds that generally pop up in everyone's yard and flowerbeds. I know mine are over ran with them. Picked, dried in the sun on cookie sheets with foil on it or even in a dehydrator and popped in my coffee grinder or just crushed once dried. I've mixed it in with green tea and gensing teas and it works well with both. They make a really nice, light, caffeine free tea that has just a hint of a strawberry flavor. Best of all...it's free.

  8. Dinner tonight

Tonight we'll go Persian. I'm making Dolmeh-yeh gojeh farangi, hummus, maybe some baba, and this chopped tomato-cucumber-red onion topping, and flat bread. Washing it down with some sort of rich red wine. (or iced tea)

  10. Harry61's Chicken Noodle Soup

Ok, good chicken noodle soup receipe great with mashed potatoes. 2 cans chicken breast 2 cans chicken broth (I use this because it is easier) 2 cans cream of chicken soup 1 package of egg noodles. (I like the fat ones, but thin ones work too) Cook noodles according to the package, once done, mix all other ingredients together and then simmer for 30 minutes. (sometimes longer depending on the weather, yes the weather) I get the potato flakes and make that up to serve with the soup. In a big bowl, put the potatoes in first then dish the soup up on top of it.
