"If we all reacted the same way, we'd be predictable, and there's always more than one way to view a situation. What's true for the group is also true for the individual. It's simple: overspecialize, and you breed in weakness. It's a slow death..."

Other worlds await your knowledge
Your might, your power, and your needs
Why is it you stand on the ledge
When you need to show your deeds?
Into the darkness you shall go
blindness is your only sight
who is it you seek to know
and why is it you seek to flight?
S-- It has been a long time since I have been moved to poetry, but with your permission I will try....

Beautiful...simply beautiful...I feel as if it was directed towards me though...I like that.

It was directed towards you. You write with an essence about you. I mean you play your part in this forum.
It is a tad bit scary I should say. You have a talent that is yet to be tapped and you should focus on that, not on your actual feeling because, well... feelings change.
Especially after a good nights sleep, a great weekend, a good meal, you get the drift.
Not all poetry was mean to be dark, mysterious and gloomy.
Look at some songs of the 60's (yeah that gives you a clue huh) lets look at:
all the leaves are brown and the sky is grey
i've been for a walk on a winters day
I'd be save and warm if I was in LA
california dreaming on such a winters day
stepped into a church I passed along the way
well, I got down on my knees and I pretended to pray
you know the preacher likes the cold he knows I'm gonna stay
california dreaming on such a winters day
all the leaves a brown and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk on a winters day
if I didn't tell her I could leave today
california dreaming on such a winters day
Now look at this...

Is this good or bad or happy or sad or both? Write until your heart is content, because something is gonna hit the mark. You can quote me on that!

I personally thought this was a sad song...I will remember what you had said and I am most grateful for this. Me and my girlfriend share this personality in our writing...so much of this is directed towards how I feel about her and others.
I like that song...so calming...unlike what I normally listen to.(heavy metal, video game music, classic rock...)"If we all reacted the same way, we'd be predictable, and there's always more than one way to view a situation. What's true for the group is also true for the individual. It's simple: overspecialize, and you breed in weakness. It's a slow death..."

This is classic rock... oh boy am I old....
What do you call classic?
It isn't sad to me, it is embarking on an adventure. From NY to Cali a new life a new beginning.
You can do so much more.... If I get around to it this weekend I will dig out the song I wrote when I was about your age, I said IF I get around to it. But in the mean time there really is so much more out there for you to learn, to experience, to get the "ah ha, moment!"

Whoa, I can't even imagin what they (the people of this time) would think of what music would be timeless. Timeless is Brintey Spears, Justin Timeberlake. Where are the true artists? (silence you gettin this?)
I don't mean to be rude but NOBODY can truley relate to this music except those that were exposed to it........
Where is the rap crap? Except for the fact they are free to sing it?
I hear nothing timeless now.

Ok to be fair, every generation has its mark, and we relate to it by age and experience, but your right when it comes to a classic sense, there are distinct boundaries that carry on through generations. We still relish music produced hundreds of years ago, and no doubt ( if we survive) we will point to the mid 60s as a reference point, a sort of music renaissance that defined a generation better than most.
Really old guy stuff huh....

As Promised
As Promised, except for the weekend part. I hope you understand I was busy watching all the tornado stuff.
I wrote this in high school so it is pretty old, you can do the math yourself. Acutally this isn't the song, it is a poem.
Depression
Despair is near
I see a black cloud
hovering over my head.
Gloom surrounds me
hugging me tight
I cannot illustrate the depression
but I am helpless in it's grip.
If finds pleasure
when tears fill my eyes.
Fiend! Depart my mind!
I will defeat your icy
claws upon my shoulder
I will fill my soul and show
My vicory over you.
Boy, looking that over again, I sure was dumb, but my teachers loved it. I went on to read poetry in competition. I won first place in that division Never looked back at it, but ended up majoring in Communication in college. Long story short, it all paid off in the long run.
I think the other one I answered you with was much better. Hope you liked it.

I did not forget.
Harry61...I never forget such a promise given unto me of literary works to be shared with me. I found nothing wrong with this poem...though it is true that the first brought feelings into me that I had never felt in even my own writing. I knew it was directed towards the very mind of myself, and such writing I admire with the utmost reverence.

Two-line incomplete Poety
"Whatever it is that she fears
Hold her close and shed no tears..."
"There is an angel with me here.
I wish to keep her forever near..."
"Choose the path that leads to sorrow,
And it is your life she will borrow..."
"With you understanding that is blind,
It is you knowledge you will never find."
"Knowledge could may lie above this tower.
Understanding this you may cower..."
"Give yourself to this fragile heart
Or our world will fall apart..."
"Withhold from the silence of your own design,
So once again your life is mine."
(I may choose to use these in other writings if I find meaning to them.)"If we all reacted the same way, we'd be predictable, and there's always more than one way to view a situation. What's true for the group is also true for the individual. It's simple: overspecialize, and you breed in weakness. It's a slow death..."

I can't believe it...I can't even remember the answer to the riddle moreover my own riddle I had hidden in the poem. I must have misplaced it somewhere...or perhaps I thought I'd remember it for some reason.
I'm pretty sure now that I think about it that this writing had something to do with a star as I wrote this during midnight. Or maybe it was a love story I had designed having Night and Day being the lovers...Actually it may even had been about a solar eclipse.

It has to do with the moon, sun, stars, life, and death itself. If you can grasp the part with the mirror...you should get it. And yeah I remember the riddle I hid within it now.
