Political Compass
I'm curious where others where others here stand on this test. It's not like most political leanings questionnaires.

Political Compass
...Welcome to The Political Compass™
There's abundant evidence for the need of it. The old one-dimensional categories of 'right' and 'left', established for the seating arrangement of the French National Assembly of 1789, are overly simplistic for today's complex political landscape. For example, who are the 'conservatives' in today's Russia? Are they the unreconstructed Stalinists, or the reformers who have adopted the right-wing views of conservatives like Margaret Thatcher ?
On the standard left-right scale, how do you distinguish leftists like Stalin and Gandhi? It's not sufficient to say that Stalin was simply more left than Gandhi. There are fundamental political differences between them that the old categories on their own can't explain. Similarly, we generally describe social reactionaries as 'right-wingers', yet that leaves left-wing reactionaries like Robert Mugabe and Pol Pot off the hook...

I could not get my graph to paste here - but I am in nearly the exact same position as you and Kucinich.

I've been a Kucinich fan for years, although he is just a tiny bit too liberal for my tastes. For instance, I am not one to favor gun control. But surprisingly he supports more control at the borders.
http://kucinich.house.gov/Issues/
All in all though, I think he is very intelligent, that he has a realistic grasp on reality, and that he is of honest intent.
I am probably going to vote for him. I think he'd have a better chance if he'd add impeachment to his platform- recent data suggests that close to 60% of Americans favor bringing that idea to the table. If I was a candidate who wanted to win- I'd be jumping on that.
Out of the ones most likely to win, I feel that Hillary is the best bet.
I am disgusted that none of the mainstream candidates, including Hillary, will even be caught saying the word "impeachment" or "torture". Either they are complete idiots, or they are ass kissing, playing it safe, playing both sides. Not hardly honest.
Couldn't help but notice all of the major candidates fall into the "authoritarian right" section."The Alice-in-Wonderland nature of this pronouncement is not lost on me..."

Ron Paul is my man! He is coming up in the polls and the media can no longer ignore him. Hillary is a dirty word in my house. I despise that woman and I am tired of Bush - Clinton - Bush - Clinton. I cannot take more of the same. Hillary has been endorced by the Bilderbergs which means she's all about the NWO.

Wow that's three in a row leaning just a little left!
I admit to feeling creepy about Hillary in the White House because of the Bush/Clinton?Bush/Clinton legacy. It just isn't natural.
How/when was she endorsed by the Bilderbergs? Not that is surprising...
I just can't muster up the strong dislike for her, though. She has been an advocate of the poor and also women, children, since she was in high school. So I'm kind of leaning into her as the lesser of other evils.
I am OK with Paul, but I think, judging by how much money, power, and the media combine to create a winning candidate, that he probably won't be able to win. Same with Kucinich, actually. I'd much rather Kucinich or maybe even Paul, be president over all of the other candidates that I've looked at. I know them both to be sincere and I do not think either try to pretend to be somebody they are not. I am tired of not being able to trust, at all, the leaders of our country.
And, wouldn't it be nice to have a leader who isn't an embarrassment? I am not huge fan of Reagan, but I really think that he was the last President to be able to maintain a sense of dignity in the White House.
Rudy is freakin creepy. I've been studying him lately and everything about him comes up slippery, oily.
Another underdog I kind of favor is Richardson. He's actually been to the ME for one, and he just seems sensible and again, honest."The Alice-in-Wonderland nature of this pronouncement is not lost on me..."

They say, the closer you are to the center, the better you can see and perceive all sides and points of view.

Were you surprised to see yourself so close to the middle?

I just don't know if I would still be in the middle if a lot of the stuff wasn't like " what's good for corporations is always good for everybody" and so on. With things like that to answer you'd have to be a real corporatist fanatic or Bill Gates to register on the right.

Things are either logical or illogical, correct or incorrect ..... why would anybody want to "perceive" a point of view that is wrong ..... ??

Do you see any benefit in being neutral amongst two sides, one which believes the world is round and the other which believes the world is flat ??

Nov 25th, 2007 3:07 PM #15Did I say anything about being neutral? Because you can perceive ones point of view doesn't mean you have to agree with it.

You guys might consider using Imageshack or Photobucket. Yours isn't showing and neither is Perf's.

Oh cool, thanks Logan.
Wow, its not often that I am among the least left leaning person on an internet discussion forum.
I notice everybody so far is over towards the left. Is it because, people who are left-leaning are more likely to take these quizzes?"The Alice-in-Wonderland nature of this pronouncement is not lost on me..."
