Is there a limit to diseases that Jesus could heal?
Jesus could heal many people, especially when there were psychosomatic components, but he couldn't cure type 1 diabetes. Do you agree?
Psychosomatic medicine is an interdisciplinary medical field studying psychosomatic illness, now more commonly referred to as psychophysiologic illness, disorders whose symptoms are caused by mental processes of the sufferer rather than immediate physiological causes. These syndromes are classified as neurotic, stress-related and somatoform disorders by the World Health Organization in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems.
Psychosomatic medicine integrates interdisciplinary evaluation and management involving diverse specialties, including but not limited to psychiatry, psychology, neurology; surgery; gynecology; pain management; pediatrics; dermatology; and psychoneuroimmunology. Clinical situations where psychological processes act as a major factor affecting medical outcome and affecting medical compliance and/or surgical results are areas where Psychosomatic medicine has competence. A major European textbook on psychosomatic medicine (over 1000 pp, six German editions) is the one edited by Thure von Uexküll.

I don't think Jesus could repair an amputee, and someone like Christopher Reeves is out of the question as well.

Well, have you noticed in the gospels that the only miracle healings Jesus did have spiritual meanings as well, so that they can be interpreted in other ways?
We assume he cured lepers, raised people from the dead, gave the blind sight, etc. Have you considered that maybe he did none of these things in the physical sense?
Just throwing this out there.

Awesome.
When he cured the blind man, we assume the guy was blind and could not see the world, but perhaps it meant he was spiritually blind?
Jesus then took saliva and dirt (made mud) and rubbed it in his eyes. The guy then says he can see.
Maybe he could see fine physically at first, then Jesus puts mud in his eye and then the guy understands that he had been blind to the spiritual.
No miracle work here except that God revealed himself through a simple example to a man who thought he could see with his eyes, yet was spiritually blinded.
Did you ever wonder why it mentions the way Jesus heals the man with mud?
This is why real blind people are more spiritual than the rest of us, because they cannot see the world.

I see what you're saying.
The being blind in order to see is synonymous with looking within for the answers, going "deep".
We tend to look outside of ourselves or into the physical manifestations to see, when there are many things before our eyes that we cannot even see, because we do not know how to look."The Alice-in-Wonderland nature of this pronouncement is not lost on me..."

I can see that as well. So if it's a metaphor for actual vision then cannot Jesus also be a metaphor for spirituality?

Yes, of course he can. This is why I believe he may not have existed, but Jesus was a story of the saving spirit. Since you cannot see God, a story had to be invented to tell us what God would be if he were in fact just a man.
The Bible itself has been manipulated to mean worship a man 2000 years ago, and I don't think that was the intention.

Because the energy from which the healing was derived had nothing to do with the death of the body on the cross.

Very wise now do you want to hear how I calmed the seas and walked on water that was rocking the boat and making it difficult for me to sleep?
One of many hundreds of miraculous demonstrations.
There once was a donut line that was so difficult to manage that it was frustrating, wastefull, inefficient, filthy and out of control. Then a new manager came along and in 3 days while the workers were on a long 3 day weekend hundreds of problems dissapeared forever and the line ran twice as fast with half the crew size ever after without a problem. I did this at least 12 times on a major scale and in every work area of 5 of the largest and fastest bakeries on the planet. Now that is walking on water. I saved over 10 million gallons of water in one year at one plant that the managers before me could not find. I reduced accident insurance premiums by $500,000 in one year and maintained the best safety rating in the industry for 10 years. The list goes on and on about miracles that never violated the laws of physics. My ways are not mans ways and I often snap my fingers and with good ideas and bold words make huge problems dissapear forever.
I do not believe there is an illness I cannot prevent and most of the disease of today I can heal very quickly with a simple global governing and automation project.
The demonstrations of curing the mentally ill that I performed at the State hospital made believers out of the worlds best doctors and they testified to that in court while thier friends were trying to crucify me. They never got me to the cross because the jury verdicts of guilty on all counts had to be overturned as soon as the jury was dismissed. Even Pilate knew he could not find fault in Jesus and so he could not have executed Jesus either and that is why Jesus was later seen as if risen from the dead. Jesus presented himself to the courts with the best weapons he had and I had the same weapons which are the truth and the way that speaks like a sword from my mouth. Hear me for I am the lord in the body of a man and Jesus never found a believer and just faded away like all men do.Last edited by Jake99; Mar 30th, 2008 at 7:56 PM.

Jake, you never cease to amaze me with your skill sets. How you are willing to make the donut line run smoothly while the workers take the weekend off is a testament to your dedication.
That brought a smile across my face.My ways are not mans ways and I often snap my fingers and with good ideas and bold words make huge problems dissapear forever.

I take no credit for actually doing the work on the holiday weekends I hire an engineering firm to rearrange and upgrade the machinery and work areas. I seldom do more than communicate the plan in writting go over it in detail and make sure the project and line gets started on time. Holiday weekends are the only 72 hour stretch of time possible and that is what it usually takes to complete projects. I want to automate the banking and sales industry so they will no longer control and destroy the planet. The wolves in sheeps clothing and liars, cheaters and thieves club must be snuffed out permananetly just like Jesus said because they are the disease that infects most people.
Now get out there in the world and clean the place up and put the pride profits and guns down. Thats the instructions I would giving as world leader and cleaning up the sea of plastic the size of the U.S. off the coast of California would be a good place to start just to understand how wasteful and disrepectful the U.S. is.
