Ouija Board: is it evil?

Today before I got my groceries, I decided to stop into a thrift store randomly looking around at various things. While looking through books, I picked up an Ouija Board sitting on top of the shelf for 3.95.

At first I was like: "Ooooh. An Ouija Board! Interesting. Maybe this could answer my 20 biggest questions about life!"

When I least expected it, my hands began to feel warm as I held it. My body began to feel hot and I felt light headed. I was faced with the biggest temptation to buy it, but something inside of me screamed not to. Especially due to the fact my apartment building is haunted with countless spirits roaming about, some of them evil tormenting me through emotions and dreams. I'm also a Christian too, which puts me in a vulnerable state.

In the end, I listened to those little voices in my head and put it back on the shelf and walked out of the store heading to the grocery store, glad to get out of there. But I have a question for all of you: Is the Ouija Board really evil? A work of the devil? Or is it just harmless fun? You decide.

Harmless fun in my book....I guess it depends on which side of the religious fence your own as to weather its evil or not.....never have owned one though.....

Its just a tool, thus it cant be evil. And their being sold as angel contacting devices as well.
It all depends on what your hoping to accomplish and what your hoping to contact with it.

But using such devises in a haunted house is not a good idea.

Number 2: Being a Christian, how can you be tormented by evil spirits, I thought Jesus was supposed to protect your from such things?

Had a friend who decided to use one in a graveyard one night. He was an idiot either way though.

And I'm wondering about DaSoviet's second question as well, wouldn't being a Christian put you in a spiritual safe spot so to speak? Outside of the whole "Satan wants my soul" mentality.

a Ouija Board is a Tool, like lycanox said ...

but though the Ouija Board is not inherently Evil, what it is supposed to do is 'Open A Doorway' between our world and the Spirit Realm.

now -- think of the metaphor of opening a door. if you don't know What is on the other side trying to get in ...

however -- reacting with Fear to something might make that something less 'friendly' to those who have encountered it -- like how animals can 'sense' the aura of the people around them. so if you are by nature 'fearful' of Ghosts and Haints then any ghost of spirit you encounter might just take your fear as rejection, perhaps even an attack.

but the thought of using a Ouija Board in a spirit infested house, or a graveyard, is about the same as thinking you can drill a small hole in a 5 000 gallon tank of anything and then just plug it up with chewing gum afterwards -- those who try discover that the pressures within the vessel will overcome any closure once an opening has been forced.

your reaction to the voices inside was the smart one - any time something occultish has generated such a reaction in me I listen to it - the same way I listen to the voices that tell me "Go For IT!" when I'm unsure of taking a risk with the potential for rewarding experiences (which is why I, a japanese canadian guy, ended up in a kibbutz for 8 months a couple years ago...)

and ... Never Regret Not Doing Something if your 'first twitch' was negative. if it was negative, you probably didn't miss out on anything good.

You will not open a doorway, it is not a communication device.

The "feeling" you got when touching the thing was most likely a placebo effect.

It's like saying when you win money while playing Monopoly, you get money in real life...

and having a position of authority on an Internet forum does not mean that individual is any smarter or rational than the next person ...

as always, opinions vary, I speak from personal experience (which is as subjective and biased as it gets, so I'm not going to bring it up for 'proof' as it is not proof of anything). however, should you ever have a 'spiritual experience' will you immediately reject it as impossible? or, perhaps, might you consider that there is more out there than the plain old physical reality we call home?

p.s. - what's the weather like on LV-426? last time I checked it was raining like hell ... I need to plan what to pack for my vacation (I've always wanted to explore a derelict spacecraft)

The thing is that if you believe in the paranormal, whether or not it is in ghost or demons.
You are more inclined to believe in the predictions or that something has stayed behind as well.
Which could easily lead to some kind of placebo effect, self fulfilling prophesies or the delusion of being haunted.

Or atleast that's the scientific answer.

I just want to say that I do believe that people not in a body can, and do, contact people who are in a body.
Its just the whole blanket "Oujia's are evil" or "beware of evil spirits sucking the light right out of you" thing that is a hang-up for me because that is a bunch of bullshit. Nothing has anymore power than what you give it.

Like Lyca said in another post recently regarding Oujia boards, once out of the body, a person doesn't achieve super-powers nor do they go through really noticeable personality changes, at least not while part of them is still energetically attached to earth. People are who they are and the body, well, its a container/anchor. People out of the body are the same people, sans the body.

And my stance on demonic possession and stuff resulting from attempting to achieve contact is still the same- its all a mind thing.

Also, being a Christian doesn't make one 'special" in any sort of way. Nobody is especially out to "get you" if you are a Christian.

I did'nt read the other post before writing this, if a person wants to play with the board that doesn not meen he or she is evil, but if you choose to do it anyway, it become more serious, dont open these doors, be happy with you life and let the Ouija board alone, i lived some things a long time ago, because of that, and i did'nt touch anything like this since.

Besides that, ask some sophisticated influential people if evil, demons, etc exist. That is if you can find any in your world. (Don't mean that as a cut its just they don't hang around much in the same place for too long)
