I always thought Oliver Stone was a little whacky, but what are your thoughts on this new George Bush biopic?

This is what powerset.com has to say about the film:

"The film is stated to be a satirical drama but "a fair, true portrait of a man", as this is not meant to be a parody of the President. Many figures shown in the film would be portrayed accurately."

I think it's pretty tricky to "accurately portray" and I think there were a lot of actors/actresses who turned down offers for a role in this production.

Oliver Stone is a two-time drop out from Yale. Could there be a skull and bones connection? Why would Stone make such a sappy film? Is he broke? Does he owe someone a favor?

I can't see anyone romanticizing a hillbilly idiot who has such smug arrogance, is publically demeaning to his wife (re: the slap on the ass when she intro'd him during very first campaign speech) and has all the foot stomping insolance of Hitler.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

    Why would Stone even attempt?
He must have been bought out by Illuminati...or perhaps he is one.
Did we watch the same trailer? That looks about as romanticized as the film "Nixon". Stone will honestly portray his view of Bush... this I have no doubt. A Texas drunk who fell ass first into the White House thanks to his old man.

I've always thought Stone was kind of a douche. Didn't he do that movie about the Kennedy assassination with Kevin Costner?

I think it will be very interesting. I am not a Bush supporter but I very much believe he is human and it will be interesting to see a side that side. A more human view.

That's messed up. This is gonna make Georgy too damn happy. That's all he wants is to be "remembered." Why would they make a movie about him? Damn... I just bursted out laughing when "Condoleezza Rice" turned to the camera with that...retarded look on her face. Oh, that reminds me, do they show the times where George W. gets dropped on his head as a baby? All of the times, I should say...

cavick, your statement reminded me of this:

I wonder if Brolin mastered all the goofy expressions.

Actually, I think this movie will be a worn out theme. First it starts out with good-ole-boy feeling his oats. People will identify...we were all stupid teenagers once. Then, poor georgie becomes the n'er-do-well. Can't seem to "find himself". Some folks can still identify with him at this point. Then it's "blame daddy-dearest" for all W's problems. Daddy was too hard on him, W. just couldn't live up to Daddy's expectations, blah. blah blah...mean daddy. So now everybody's feeling sorry for poor W.

Then...a turn of events. Somehow (???) he makes it through college. Then W. gets a job. Not a real job, mind you. It's a puppet position. But people on the payroll stroke w's ego and he gets a little puffed up. "I'll show daddy!" he thinks. And with that the movie goes on to make him a hero; a legend in his own time. Yes, all the war and killing will be romanticized. The audience will hopefully be convinced that the poor man was just "doing the best he could" and had the very best of intentions for his country.

It will probably be a twist on a Horatio Algier type plot. "Bad boy does good" sort of theme. W. will come out smelling like a rose. And Hollywood will once again manipulate and hypnotize the masses.

I would not go to a theatre to see this. If it were aired on television I would turn off the TV.
