No, this is not a joke. There is a true answer rooted in history. Who knows it?

thought it was from the British goat god. fullfilling the adage that the gods of the vanquished become the devils of the victor. Ask someone on the street who was the most evil man ever- most will say hitler- the devil incarnate, the anti-christ- the loser.

Here is what I found on wikipedia:

"Satan has many appearances, depending on the source. Satan is often depicted with horns protruding from his head. This is derived from the Pagan celebrations in which participants would often don antlers. As Christians believed Pagans to be unholy, they are believed to have used the Pagan depiction of the Horned God to form their portrayal of Satan."

When man made God in his own image, he also made Satan in his own heart.

Indeed, the depiction of Satan as a horrific horned beast is a construct of man. As a fallen angel, he likely looks NOTHING like this. If I'm not mistaken, Satan was apparently a "good looking" angel, however that works.

And logically, how do you deceive a world if you LOOK like an evil monster? No, Satan deceives with a far gentler look.............

Jesus also said parables of lambs and goats, with goats going to hell. Then it was found that the pagans had goat gods and it became useful. It happened over centuries but medieval Satanists probably adapted the horned facade from the church itself, sort of a reverse Christianity.

I think he got them from the pagan god Pan the god of nature i think, at the time the church was condeming all other religions as heresy they took certain bits from different gods and created there image of the devil.

Or maybe he was just into body mods and he started it all and someone stole his thunder
