If T.O. can keep his act together and Kearse cames and plays as advertised they have a good chance to get to the SB....but remember the CB's & Saftey's are getting older and now Vincent is gone along with Staley.......they need to address the RB area as well......

    Prediction: NFC East

    Eagles 12-4
    Boys 11-5
    Skins 10 -6
    NY Giants 6-10

Philadephia should continue their NFC East dominance. The Cowboys will do well to match last year, this years draft suggests their waiting until next year. Although their defensive line looks quality, their offence although boosted by Keyshawn, still lacks an established half-back and quarterback. The Giants will also be looking ahead a bit further while Manning finds his feet, so the only serious challenge could come from the ever underachieving Redskins.

If the Eagles can gain home advantage through the play-offs, then they could finally come home with the big one. Why not?

    Wink Julius Jones

If you're right buddy, I'll be happier than you can imagine. Just feel it might take him a while to settle down. Win or lose Cowboys are my number one.

    Patriots 3 from 4?

Your Boys did it in the 90's, how about New England doing it now? I like New Orleans Saints but they're a bit crap. I take it this sports section doesn't get used much.

Eagles are going to be the Lakers of the NFL. They will do well, but since it is a team sport, they will fall in the playoffs.

    Unhappy It's a defensive co-ordinators nightmare

If you double team T. Owens, Donovan McNabb goes walkabout. Even good defenses struggle against mobile QB's. Philadelphia's defense is sound, (Jeremiah Trotter returns) so the offense doesn't usually need to rack up big scores to win.

They've been the best team in the NFC East for some time now, they need to win one soon because the cap seems to have more of an effect these days.

Can't fail to get excited about the coming season, I want it to start yesterday. Eddie George (who has the ability and the personality) has arrived at the place he's wanted to be all along and if Julius is as good as you say MNSB then they should both stay fresh all season long. This of course also takes the heat off Richie Anderson and he can get on with doing his thing.

Another position helped by the step up in the quality of the running game is of course the quarterback position. Do you think Quincy Carter is up to the job or will Vinny be in by week three? I think Carter's got a lot of potential and he could come through this year in a big way. He's going to need to or he'll find himself at no.3 pretty quickly.

With Darren Woodson winding up the solid defense in what could be his swansong (the D-line looks awesome) it could be a season to remember. The NFC East is going to be hot and the winners could go all the way. Go Cowboys!

Irv.....I am really excited about the upcoming season....the whole NFC East should be the most exciting division in the NFL....all the teams got better....except for the Giants(my opinion).

The RB's should be great.....I think George is a perfect fit for the Boys....Julius is quick enough to rush it outside.....Eddie and Richie can pound it up the middle, and both got great hands as well.

I'm real interested in the QB situation as well. I think Quincy has the skill to be a good, but not great QB, and with Vinny there it only helps. Vinny has the experience as well as leadership values. If Quincy got hurt or is having a bad game(s)....Vinny can step in......I also heard Hutch is gonna be gone soon....good thing too, he sucked =)

As far as defense....the can remain good.......Woodson is hurt though....out 6-8 weeks as of last week, I think for a ruptured disc? Not quite sure, right now, but they said he will miss training camp as well as the first couple regular season games. I'm interested to see how much better Newman has gotten as well....

    GO BOYS!

Just hope Drew Henson isn't a similar situation to Chad Hutchison. Do these guys have the REAL desire to play football? It's no point having ability without determination and desire.

I really think an enhanced running game will be good for Quincy. I think Vinny is there for his experience more than anything else and to bring Carter and (possibly more so) Henson through. I don't think he's been consistent enough the past few years to warrant Bill bringing him in with him starting in mind. When Chad Pennington was injured at the Jets the season before last Vinny was poor. I feel that Parcells feels that Henson is going to be his man in the near future. I think he'll try and keep things simple for Quincy.

Didn't know about Darren. That is a blow, the guy is a leader. Although we've got Roy Williams and Terence Newman, his injury does leave us a bit thin in the secondary. Let's hope he makes a speedy recovery.

    Question Aaargh!

Dallas release Quincy Carter...I thought the guy had bags of potential. I hope he doesn't come back and bite us on the a#se. Henson must be doing the business on the practise field. I have major reservations about Vinny Testeverde being number one after the hash job he made at the Jets two years ago.

Midnightsonblaze, where are you? I need some reassurance here. Maybe we have someone else lined up? Apparently he's failed a drug test. How many more players are going through this? No doubt everyone will start to blame Michael Irvin or Leon Lett.

Smile McNabb and Owens = Lots of throwings...

So far then 3 teams are 5-0:-

    New York Jets (AFC East)
    New England Patriots (AFC East)
    Philadelphia Eagles (NFC East)

Jets square up to Pats next weekend. I've got £20 riding on the Eagles at 11/2 (start of the season), they're now 5/2 in my local gambling establishment. Easy money.

Got Dallas, £5 at 33/1 but that is a silly loyalty bet 'cos I love 'em.

    No sleep tonight...

Monday night football for me, kicks off over in the wee small hours over here, so I'm in for the long haul. My big bet is on Philadelphia to win the SuperBowl but my team is the Dallas Cowboys and low and behold tonight is another match up. I'm not holding out too much hope for Da'Boys but stranger things happen at sea. Perfect scenario, Dallas to win, no injuries or lasting negative effects on Philadelphia.

Pittsburgh and their rookie QB have me running scared and are 7-1, along with the Patriots. Philadelphia should match that tonight. Pittsburgh however have beaten both the Eagles and the Patriots in recent weeks and look the form team.

    Coffee anyone?

Dallas played like a bunch of clowns...No problems for McNabb and co. Eagles move to 8-1, Dallas fall to 3-6.

    Flight of the Eagle...

    I think that's true.

There are no real weak spots. The running game is probably not as strong as other departments but when you've got McNabb as a mobile quarterback, you extend your options there too.

After doing so well over the last few years and not making the superbowl, there may be a question about their big game temperament but I think they did the business with their acquisitions in the off-season. Kearse and Owens in particular should give them the boost they need to go all the way.

What I love about the NFL though is the one-off situation. Come the play-offs you have to perform every game or it's your arse, (no best of 7s). On their day Indianapolis are awesome, New England have a complete team, MIchael Vick is unstoppable for the Falcons and Pittsburgh's rookie quarterback has bucket loads of confidence, behind a rejuvenated O-line.

I think the Eagles will do it, if the final is against the Colts, it could be the greatest ever shoot-out.

yeah, but The Eagles' Defense has shown they have trouble covering the opposing team's Tight End. The Steeler's Rook QB is pretty impressive but their defense is back on point. The Blitzberg is back! The Pats are a well rounded team, I don't like them.

    Smile Shockey, Gonzalez, Witten...

Tight Ends are a 'pain in the arse' to most teams, they seem to be getting drafted earlier these days. I too have no love for the Pats but it does worry me that they are going to match Dallas' record in the 90's of 3 out of 4 SB triumphs. Still, that failed year, they didn't reach the conference final like the Dallas side (I'm clutching at straws here).

Just have a feeling that it's Donovan's year and if it is, I'll gladly accept the money. I have 4 out of the last 6 years. (Firstly, the year that the Pats won their first, I had bet St Louis at the start of the campaign and last year I bet Indianapolis, only for them to be undone by New England in the AFC Conference game. Yeah, I don't like the Pats.

Smile The greatest show on turf...

Getting down to the business end of the NFL season and the remaining sides battle it out this weekend for a place in the conference finals, the winners of which I'm sure most of you are aware contest the superbowl.

    AFC play-offs

NEW YORK JETS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (Saturday)
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (Sunday)

    NFC play-offs

ST LOUIS RAMS at ATLANTA FALCONS (Saturday)
MINNESOTA VIKINGS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (Sunday)

Indianapolis are currently putting up big numbers on offense and could be the winners this year although home field advantage will probably have to be overcome twice to make the superbowl. The AFC has looked the stronger conference all season and all 4 teams are quality. New England just don't lose games.

In the NFC, the Eagles will probably miss big game receiver Tyrrell Owens through injury, while the Vikings have got their go-getter Randy Moss back and catching just in time. Both the Eagles and Falcons have mobile Quarterbacks that are not easily contained in Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick respectively.

Personally I'll take anyone but the Pats because they would equal Dallas' 3 out of 4 superbowl triumphs but financially I stand to make considerable gain if either the Eagles or the Vikings win as they were my pre-season winning tip and dark horse tip.
